I just updated to WP 3.2.1. When trying to reactivate this plugin, it triggered a fatal error:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 29360128) (tried to allocate 2050877 bytes) in */wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 774

I’ve had a lot of memory allocation issues with this host (1and1), but unfortunately switching hosts isn’t an option and the host is unwilling to allocate more memory. (The various fixes of adjusting the wp-settings, .htaccess, and php.ini are inapplicable because the host has a hard memory limit cap in place.) This plugin is a key component to the home page of the site; is there any way to get it working again?

Typically an out of memory error can be due to a number of causes. If you have had similar issues on this particular host, I would always keep switching hosts or upgrading an option.

You will want to test and see if you get this error when all other plugins are disabled. It could be that the sum total of all your plugins are reaching the memory limit and activating this one puts it over the limit.

You can always up the memory limit in your WordPress config file (if your host’s php settings allow it), but this is typically not recommended. Rather than glossing over the issue by upping the memory, you will want to find the source and fix it.

You can try increase the memory by asking your host to increase it for you and see if it solves the problem or not.
