    Hi!

Thank you for developing plugin, I hope it will get better over time! At the moment I have following problem: when I try to update (change quantity etc.) and save product that is not being synced with facebook (belongs to category that is not synced) I cannot save product, because notice is being displayed:

This product belongs to a category or tag that is excluded from the Facebook catalog sync. It will not sync to Facebook.

To sync this product to Facebook, click Go to Settings and remove the category or tag exclusion or click Cancel and update the product’s category / tag assignments.

    Best Regards!

  • Hey @marcjanik,

Thanks so much for the question here!

I can certainly see why the current plugin is causing some confusion over this. I took a look at this myself and wasn’t initially sure if it was a bug or not! As it turns out, the category exclusion settings don’t take precedence over the individual product settings for syncing. So in this case, it sounds like the product has the setting enabled for “include in Facebook sync“, yet the category is included in the exclusion setting too.

As a quick workaround, it should be possible to remove/uncheck the “Include in Facebook sync” from using either the Bulk Actions or directly on the product itself. You can read more about how to do this from our documentation page.

Would it be possible to give this a go, and let me know if you can then update the product successfully?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Having the same issue.

In my case the products are not enabled for sync in Facebook on the product. Yes they are in a tag that is excluded.

I cannot make ANY changes to the product without the dialog box popping up when saving.

The workaround suggested here does not work.

The only way I can update a product is to remove the tag, let it sync to Facebook, make the changes, save the changes, then disable the sync.

This is not optimal and needs to be fixed.

    Hi @mathewlewis,

Are the products that you’re trying to edit variable types by any chance? We did come across an issue with variable products that should be solved in the next release of the plugin. Even though the category/tag exclusion was correctly set, and sync disabled, there was some underlying data being checked that simple products used that caused the pop-up notice to still be displayed.

If this happens for all product types though, and you’re running the latest version of the plugin, I’d love to take a closer look to try and replicate the issue!

Could you let me know if you can provide a bit more detail on when you are seeing the issue in your store?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Simon,

    Thanks for the update.

I can confirm that it is happening on Variable Products. It does not happen on Simple Products.

I will wait for the next release.

    Again thanks.

    Hi @mathewlewis,

Ah, that’s great, thanks for confirming!

While the next release will contain the fix for this issue, it will also remove the product category exclusion functionality too. This will be a temporary change while we await the newest Facebook API release in the coming months.

As soon as we have the newest API version, we can bring this feature back, including the fix though! So the newest release will still fix this, though perhaps not quite in the exact way that we’d like for now.

If you have any other issues once it is released and installed, please could you keep me in the loop?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

I still have this issue with 1.11.2
    Was this resolved?

    Hey @darkallman,

Thanks for reaching out to us! Are you referring to the original issue or are you referring to a specific problem with variable products?

Thanks so much for any other details here!

    Julie ??
    SkyVerge

The issue that I was seeing with regards to Variable Products and the dialog box that @marcjanik mentioned at the top of this post has been resolved in recent updates.

I have since uninstalled this plugin because of a list of issues I am seeing while using this plugin.

? Inconsistent syncs. Not all variations syncing.
? Products being synced that are set to exclude from sync.
? Deleting Facebook meta is inconsistent. Some data gets removed leaving some behind.

Hopefully with SkyVerge taking over dev and support, things will get better and I can re-visit the plugin at a later date.

    I’m having the same problem.

    – the (simple) product setting is FB not enabled.
    – the product is in an FB-excluded category (not tags used)

No edit possible, quick edit works fine. CSV update import does not pose any problems.

Please, remove this message and the blockage. The users want to decide for themselves which products they want to include on FB, they don’t need you to run their shop for them.

    Hey @mathewlewis,

Thanks so much for the feedback!

We’ve recently had reports of some issues with missing variations in the latest version of the plugin due to the way the feed file was being generated and how the sync was initiated from Facebook. The feed file was being generated line by line once a product was parsed and this meant that if Facebook’s schedule to sync the products occurred at the wrong time, it could retrieve an incomplete feed file.

While I can’t say for certain that this is the issue you also encountered, it sounds like it could be possible. Our developers are working on a fix for this at the moment, and the new major release of the plugin with the newer Facebook API will also resolve this too, by switching the sync back to the plugin.

I’d love to take a closer look at your other two issues, as this shouldn’t be occurring. Although you’ve uninstalled the plugin, so I completely understand if you’d rather not troubleshoot further.

@dajanatlarge could you let me know what version of the plugin you’re currently running? My understanding is that if the simple product is included in the excluded categories, and the product sync is not enabled, you’re receiving a warning that the product would be synced but is excluded due to its category.

Is that right? If you can share some additional application steps, I’d be happy to look into this further for you.

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Still got this same issue.

I couldn’t save a product at all before I updated the plugin to v2.0.0 due to a javascript error.

Now that I’ve updated, it presents the same dialog Settings/Cancel box when I try to update an excluded variable product. And “Cancel” aborts the update.

You said “… it should be possible to remove/uncheck the “Include in Facebook sync”” but there is no way to do this. There is no option on the product page to disable the sync for the product, just a box stating This product is not yet synced to Facebook.
The “All Products” screen already says “Do not sync”

Syncing some of these products to facebook is not an option — we would be in breach of a contract if we do, so the exclusions must be honoured.

I seem to have no option but to remove this plugin.

    Hi @cdcooperuk,

Jennifer here, stepping in for Simon. So sorry to hear about all of the trouble that you’ve had syncing your products!

You mentioned that some of these problems have begun since updating to version 2.0.0 – as a starting point, could you please take a look under WooCommerce > Settings > Integrations > Facebook for WooCommerce and confirm that you are still connected to Facebook? Some of our users have reported issues in being able to connect after updating, and we are working with Facebook currently on getting these resolved. If you see that your site has been disconnected, could you please try reconnecting and let me know if you are able to do so?

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

This really is a problem with this plugin and I am going to have to remove it entirely. No matter what I do, this plugin INSISTS that I cannot edit an item that does not sync with Facebook. Even if I include the category in the list of excluded categories in settings the plugin will not allow me to edit or create a product without this warning.

This issue is marked as “Resolved” but it is not resolved. I think “Ignored” or “Avoided” is a more appropriate description here.

Same… This is clearly a bug. It’s bad enough you install a support dashboard on WP without asking… Please solve the problems, I can only save product updates if I disable your plugin.

I have this issue as well. I don’t want to sync products in certain categories, so have excluded them in the FB tab in Woocommerce. In my case I have it in a category that is synced with FB. However, if I try and change the product category to the excluded one …

What it does: Refuses to save, with the error others have reported.

What I need: It removed product from FB sync once it is changed to a category that is set not to sync.

Would really apreciate this being fixed ASAP please.
