The plugin can optionally create archives for each of the post types. Check out the settings page in the admin: Settings -> Press, News, Events. As long as you have a box checked in the “Create an archive page for:” section, you’ll get an archive page at either /press-releases/, /news/ and/or /events/.

Additionally, the /events/ archive only shows upcoming events. Past events can be found at /events/archive/.

Thanks Matt. I managed to work this out on Friday afternoon and so have been able to upload my press releases.

Are there any shortcodes to these pages or post?

I’m not quite sure what you mean when you say “shortcodes to these pages”. The plugin does define some shortcodes, though. [event-meta], [news-meta] and [press-release-meta], will display custom post type information on a page of that post type.

I have the same question Matt
I inserted [news-meta] in a WordPress site page to display the news but nothing appeared.
I deactivated the archive feature but It did not fix the problem.
The archive page URL/news/ appeared correctly though when activated.

Also is it possible to show only the first X number of news?

    Thank you

You’ll need to use the [news-meta] shortcode on a News page. It’s meant to display information about the post that it’s on. So, it won’t display anything on a regular “Page”.

As for X number of news posts, that depends on your template. The number of news items displayed in an archive matches that on any other archive. I believe the number is ten. I will put manipulation of this number of my list of potential features.

    Hi Matt,

Well, I’m trying to create different pages for each archive. I’ve manage to create archive-news.php and that works fine for news, but i’m not managing to create a custom archive page for events/past events.

Would you be able to give me some orientation? I don’t really want to know the archive.php instead I would like to create a custom page.

    hope you can help.
    thanks

How do i set the number of posts per page on the news stories, its default to 10, i want to change it. I’m trying post_limit but it just doesnt work.

    Help anyone?

    regarding archive templates:
What template filenames are you using for the events?

    regarding number of posts:
I’m afraid that is out of the scope of this plugin. Here is a link to a tutorial on changing the number of posts for the search page. You should be able to adopt it to suit your needs.
