• Please be advised when using this Cincopa plug-in that although they say free account with “option” to upgrade once you reach your limit you will be blocked from your galleries, and in place will be a big grey block on your public posts telling you to upgrade.

When you go into your galleries, you will not be able to see or access your pics, move your pics or use your pics as they hold them hostage and force you to either upgrade for $80.00 or find another solution which is where I am now.

This is not a best business practice and you should be aware before you begin migrating your pictures or using this “Free Service”

  • Hey songbyrd76, you role, they just announced that they give their service for free https://www.cincopa.com/cincopamanager/paypal/plans.aspx

    Good job.
    Power to the people!

They do say the service is free. Songbird is merely saying that once a threshold is reached they will block access to your media.

I think this service is good, but maybe try to make the user more aware of how much they may be using before their media is black-outed. 200MB is pretty big for images, but video is pretty much nothing. At the same time, 3rd party video sites are the way to go anyway.

If you are talking about public video sites like youtube then I don’t find them that good, they are limited in time, publish your video to everyone, wont accept some types of videos and ownership of the content is a big problem.

    Not everyone can use them.

Do not use Cincopa! I don’t want to see happened to me happen to the WordPress community.

Cincopa de-faced our client’s sites by pulling down our galleries and replacing them with a nice big graphic saying something like “this cincopa customer gone over limit”. They didn’t even warn us. They should’ve sent us an email first. We had no idea until we saw it… That’s a terrible way to do business.

Cincopa’s reputation on webutation.net isn’t that great either

Here’s some advice: If you want to keep your clients, warn them discretely before defacing their sites..

I echo the comments of NexusCore. When you go over the monthly bandwidth or exceed your storage, all of your galleries will display an obnoxious message that says what you have done and that you need to upgrade to a Pro account. They say that they send warning messages, but I did not get any. Unless you want a paid account, search out another solution for your media needs.

I thought it was sneaky company to begin with. The part about “put your media on our servers” was kind of buried when I tried it months ago. Wasted a lot of time installing, registering, etc. only to realize that google and flickr do about the same thing. Already have the media on our servers, why bother downloading and re-uploading all those videos and pics?
Never did find a lot of the things they reference in description.

But to take all the work you’ve done away from you and imply to your customers that you don’t pay your bills, that’s beyond despicable.

There are many laws to prevent regular businesses from doing such things for a reason. Apparently, the consumer ‘truth in advertising’ laws have been stripped away, otherwise, they’d be in big trouble.

I don’t understand what is this riot is all about, I’m using Cincopa for 2 years now, they are nothing but professional and helpful guys.

And how do I make sure I’ll not get those messages, simple – I just pay my bills, same as I pay godaddy, bluehost and my webmaster.

Cincopa offers two types of accounts: Free and Professional.

Free accounts and Pro accounts are both limited in storage and traffic on a monthly basis with Free accounts having much lower limits than the Pro accounts. You can learn more about what the Free and Pro accounts offer on our Plans Page.

For all users we offer a dashboard within their account on our website that shows the user their current traffic and storage usage so they are always aware of where they stand.

For all account types, Free or Pro, we send automated emails to the registered email address on the account alerting the user when they are approaching traffic or storage limits. These emails are sent at several milestones before the 100% limit is reached allowing ample time for the user to make adjustments. Free account users can upgrade to Pro accounts, and Pro account users can add packages to their accounts to gain additional storage and/or bandwidth.

We have a rather extensive Help Forum at https://help.cincopa.com where you can find Guides, Tutorials, FAQs and access our Technical Support Staff by submitting support requests to receive individualized support. If at any time you should need help, have a question, are unable to find a feature, etc., our Technical Support Staff is available to help you.

Why upload your media to your Cincopa account? In order for us to stream your media using our CDN, powered by Amazon S3, it needs to reside in your account. We do not have any access to your media and you retain ownership of all of your content. You can read more about the reasons for using Cincopa here.

The Free and Pro accounts can be upgraded, downgraded or canceled at anytime without questions asked. We offer a free 14 day trial of the Pro account as well. At Cincopa we are constantly making improvements and updates to our platform and plugins to make sure that we remain one of the best streaming media platforms available.

    Jason,

With all that you wrote still doesn’t change the fact that you de-faced our sites.

I never rec’d an email showing I was approaching my limit. No, I had to get a call from our marketing department – they were freaking out because of the gawdy a$$ graphic you put in place of my galleries – across all our sites.

Oh, and our clients saw that too. What a lame a$$ tactic…you guys are a business…would you do business with someone that did that to your site?? C’mon dude…think! I know that sounds disrespectful but I guarantee you would be saying something similar if it happened to you.

I work for a professional company that handles professional clients. Your business practice are absolutely unacceptable.

I think FemmeFM hit the nail on the head when she wrote:

Re-read what most of the post above mine are saying…with exceptions to whatever shills there may be on here

    @ Concopa:

Come on.. Be UP FRONT and gain the trust and respect of your potential customers. Tell them IMMEDIATELY that there are restrictions and a cost involved to remove those restrictions.

At the top of the page, you clearly state it is FREE. There is no indication of restrictions… That indicated that there are NO restrictions. Agreed that right down at the bottom of the page, you mention a pro version but still no indication of restrictions on the so called ‘free’ version

I will not (repeat NOT) invest financially in any product, no matter how good, where I feel that I have been duped into wasting my time.

I like the concept of your product and would more than likely invested in it had true facts been presented UP FRONT. Don’t treat potential customers as fools! You have lost MY goodwill and will never be a customer of yours.
