  • Does not work for me either

Nor me. The built-in “email poster” doesnt work either.

Same for me, nada, zilch, goose egg.

so is there a working alternative ?

What did I do. I can’t remember. Oh yeah, I installed a different plug-in called “Email Post Activation.” Now my posts get uploaded into the Posts section of WP Dashboard for my site. I go in and approve the post and it shows up. I think if you add another plugin called wp-cron, I may be able to get it to post automatically without having to go in to approve the post:

thanks peteviti, followed the steps in the how-to.. the email sits in the created mail-box but does not show up in https://example.com/installdir/wp-mail.php, keep getting “Slow down cowboy, no need to check for new mails so often!”

(of course i changed the path in that link… and also tried the ssl://)

    any ideas ?

PS. it works if I use the created email address as sender and receiver… is that “normal” ?

Update: Strike that, it now works from another email address as well… BUT, just emailed an image, and that’s no longer in the email once it reaches WordPress (and images were the whole reason for this ??

I am not sure I follow. where are you when entering the “created email address?” When I go to the “writing” section under WP settings, the only email fields are as follows:

    Mail Server, Port
    Login Name
    Password
    Default Mail Category

as said, it’s posting now (quite a delay and i’m not the most patient person in the world ?? but no images, which was the entire purpose ??

    I’m confused.
    Is this by design?
It seems no one get its working, or must you use an add-on?

How is wordpress continually upgraded with new features but this core feature has not worked?

post shows up for me, but my whole reasoning to include an image is not working (yet) and little to no support ;]

Seems strange that we cant this native feature to work.
It is not like it is a plug-in right?
I mean it is native to wordpress releases.

Sites like posterous are able to handle, music, video links and images and embed them appropriately.

With posterous if you email a mp3, its embeds a audio player, email multiple images, it makes a gallery, email a youtube link and it embeds the video.

WordPress needs to step it up, Posterous has been doing this since 2007.
