The portfolio slideshow plugin seems to be working great for me, but I’m having a bizarre problem with it in Google Chrome, Safari, and mobile Safari (the common thread between these browsers being that they use the WebKit rendering engine). I notice that after navigating through a few images in my slideshow (sometimes I have to go backwards and forwards to get this to happen; it’s a bit random), a large part of my slideshow seems to disappear. The part that disappears also becomes unclickable, making it impossible to navigate by clicking on most of the image area. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this weird quirk and how I can prevent it?

Here’s the page I’m working on for reference: https://hgdnyc.com/wptest/uncategorized/gallery-test-2/ Anyone with Chrome or Safari should be able to duplicate this issue; it’s occurring for me both on Mac and PC.

The problem looks slightly different for me: the first slide appears to be blank until you advance, and then if you go back it shows up OK.

One thing I’d recommend first of all is to run the page through the W3C validator – you’ve got some HTML formatting errors that might be causing a problem. (Your doctype should be first in the source). Other than that, I don’t see any obvious javascript conflicts, so it might be CSS related.

That’s interesting Dalton.. would you mind telling me what browser, version, and OS combination you’re using for the slideshow to appear like that?

I’ll try to make the page validate if you think that might help. What do you mean about the issue being CSS related? Any idea what I should look for to fix it? I’ve already ensured that no other divs sit on the same place as the slideshow.

Okay, I’ve got the page validating perfectly and am still having issues with portfolio slideshow (I’m actually now having the issue of the first slide appearing blank too). It seems like a great plugin, but I just can’t seem to get around this issue.

Actually, nevermind–just updated the plugin to the latest version and everything seems to be working fine now! Not sure what was changed that would’ve resolved my issue, but huge thanks for the update Dalton! I was really dreading having to find a new plugin and rethink everything I’d worked on.

    Hi Johnny,
The changes in the latest version are basically css/javascript workarounds to all of the varied and interesting CSS we encounter in WP themes. Specifically we added support for fluid-width themes like TwentyEleven – now slideshows should scale dynamically along with the theme. The side benefit of this is greater theme compatibility overall, the plugin does it’s best to size itself according to the theme rather than just insert itself and hope for the best.

Hi I have the same problem but in Google Chrome in os X lion. I recently update the plugin to 1.3.3 but it remains the problem. Its very extrange cause its suppose to work excellent in Chrome.
    Could it be my theme?
I bought it from theme forest.
You can check here and example https://www.icc-crisis.com/evento-final-de-ano-2011-tcs/ work fine in IE and Safari and Firefox even in Chrome in PC the problem is just in Chrome with OS X Lion.
    Thanks!
