[Plugin: Polylang] tags – same looking tags in diff. languages issue
-
Hi Chouby,
This is about tags again. I have been testing it for a while and believe there are some issues still.
I have a couple of tags which in different languages are spelled exactly the same. The only difference is in their slug. I have all tags assigned to relevant posts in Language1. When I add a translated post in Language2 and start typing a tag in tag metabox I can see the tag name automatically appear. After your latest release I can see only one name and not two names appear, so I assume that the tag list is filtered by language.
Example 1 – for tags already in the system:
Language1 – atesttag – tag slug = atesttagslug-L1
Language2 – atesttag – tag slug = atesttagslug-L2Before in the tag metabox autofill I could see the two tags appear.
Now only one. So I assume it is filtered by language. I obviously at this stage do not know if the correct language tag appears as I can see only its name which is the same in two langs: atesttag. So far so good. I carry on to check if it works.
In the WP dashboard tags screen I click on the number (of posts) next to the atesttag name
for L2
in order to display only L2 posts. Instead I
get both L1 and L2
language posts. That means that tag appearing in the tag metabox when I added the translated post was the L1 not the L2 tag. That would mean that it was not filtered by language.
What happens is the following:
The L1 tag name appears in the tag metabox in L2 post. And is now added to both L1 and L2 posts. THis results in both L1 and L2 posts displaying when I click on a tag name to bring the list of posts.Example 2:
I tried to add new test tags to check the issue:
Language1 – atesttag – tag slug = atesttagslug-L1
Language2 – atesttag – tag slug = atesttagslug-L2No problem with adding atesttag (atesttagslug-L1). I then wanted to add a translation for this tag: atesttag (atesttagslug-L2) in the tag admin screen.I cannot do it and get the following error message on top of the screen: ‘A term with the name provided already exists’
Conclusion:
Chouby it looks that the latest upgrade addressed the ‘undefined’ tag issue, however might have not fully sort out the tag filtering? Please let me know what you think and also if you need any more tests done.
best regards,
