[Plugin: PodPress] Podcast only feed?

    Hey Everybody,

    I’ve had a blog/podcast for a while now, but recently I’ve started doing more podcasting, and became interested in getting listed on iTunes, and some other directories.

    I’m using podpress, but I’m having some trouble finding or creating a podcast only rss feed. I’ve searched and searched, but I cannot seem to remedy my problem, which is this:
    https://www.triangletactical.net/feed validates fine, but https://www.triangletactical.net/feed/podcast would not validate.

    I read another post here on the forum that suggested re-saving my permalinks (without making any changes), so I gave that a try. Now, if I go to feedvalidator.org and try to validate the /podcast feed, it does validate, but it changes back to /feed in the window, so I’m not sure if I have something else going on.

    What is really confusing me, is if I type https://www.triangletactical.net/feed/podcast into my browser address bar, I get re-directed to https://www.triangletactical.net/podcast-2 which is a blank page.

    All I want to do is have a podcast only feed to use for submitting my podcast to directories, but I’m in way over my head!

    Any help would be appreciated, I hope I’m making sense…

    Hi Luke,

    usually https://www.triangletactical.net/feed/podcast is a feed which contains only posts with an podPress attachment. But this feed is not active or has a different name in your blog. If you open the URL
    https://www.triangletactical.net/?feed=podcast then you will see that there is no feed with the slug name podcast in your blog.
    You may open the podPress Feed/iTunes Settings page, section podPress Feeds. This section contains the necessary settings for the feeds which podPress can add to your blog. It contains also all settings for the feed
    https://www.triangletactical.net/feed/podcast or https://www.triangletactical.net/?feed=podcast (which is the same only with the default URL scheme of WP).
    If you activate or/and rename a podPress Feed then you need to save the Permalink settings afterwards.

    But I see that you have organized your podcast posts in category. Furthermore it seems to me that you already found the podPress Category Casting settings for the feed of this category. The URL of this category feed is https://www.triangletactical.net/category/podcast/feed/ . It contains only posts with a podcast episode.

    about the redirect:
    I’m not entirely sure why this happens. But one part of the issue is that the /feed/podcast feed does not exists while you have obviously a static page or a post with the title podcast. The slug name of this page is not /podcast/ because you probably have already a page or post with title. The -2 in /podcast-2/ is only an automatic suffix which WP attaches automatically to the slug name if the slug name still exists.

    Thanks for your help. So I need to create a feed in podpress with the slug name “podcast”, and then the feed https://www.triangletactical.net/feed/podcast will work?
