• Just updated WP last night and went to add new podcast post today and received this error message below where the Podpress details normally show up

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /home2/#####/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-comments-list-table.php on line 319

Checked the other podcasts that I put up and they are each showing this rather than the boxes that allow me to add the podcast details.

Turned off the plugin and error message went away but my podcasts in the post did as well ??

Your hosting provider grants you a certain amount of RAM memory for your blog. The error message says that WP + the theme and the plugins need more memory than available (40 MB). This is no bug of podPress.
If you deactivate it less memory is needed and the message does not appear.

40 MB are not very much. Maybe you can ask your hosting provider for a little bit more.

(For instance the memory_limit for my blogs is 128 MB and podPress works fine with WP 3.4. But 60-80 MB maybe enough.)

    Regards,

You may use a plugin like WP System Health to analyze the memory consumption.

If you see this message only on the editor page then one solution could be the reduction of the number of media files you are able to add to a post. You can decrease this number on the general settings page of podPress. It is usually 10. But if you usually add only 1 or 2 media files to a post then you may decrease the value this number.

I turned off a stats program that was running and it now works so it looks like the out of memory issue was caused by a combination of resource using plugins. Will contact my host and see if they can increase the allocated memory – thanks for the reply!

Another question whilst I’m at it ?? when the podcast is posted to iTunes and I download it to my iPod it has a generic greyscale image beside it rather than the graphic that I’ve created. Is there any way to specify the small image that shows beside the podcast in my playlist. On iTunes my image shows up for the podcasts. What I’d like to be able to do is specify a different image for various series that we run from time to time to differentiate them. Does that make sense? ??

    about the images:
The image your see on the iPod is a cover image (or a place-holder) which is part of each media file. The iTunes Store page shows the iTunes:image which is a image you have added to the feed (e.g with podPress).
If you want to see a custom cover image on the iPod (or e.g. in the Cover Flow view of the iTunes client software on your desktop computer) you need add such an image to each file. You can do this e.g. with the iTunes client software on your computer (see for instance this page https://www.macworld.com/article/1152018/itunesart.html). You can also use other tools which allow you to modify the ID3 tags of such a file.
