[Plugin: Plugin Organizer] Intended Use

  • Hello,

    I’m planning on writing a review of this plugin on WPMU.org and I’m curious to learn more about its intended use.

    For instance, could you use it to deactivate plugins that are only used on the backend (e.g. Plugin Performance Profiler). Would this be a legitimate use that would result in a load time decrease?

    It would be great if you could give me a few real life examples, so that I can get a better grasp of the plugin’s potential.

    Yes that’s one of its uses. You can also disable plugins on the admin if they are conflicting with other plugins. I have used a few plugins that load a bunch of Javascript that is needed on the admin page for that plugin but causes issues on other admin pages. With the URL admin and global plugins page you can fix that problem.
    The plugin was originally written because we were running a website that had around 70 plugins running and was incredibly slow. This plugin allowed us to disable plugins only used on the admin and it also helped get rid of some plugin conflicts.
    We had a site that was taking close to a minute to load and this plugin dropped the load time on most pages to around 5 seconds. It was loading a plugin that did a lot of database calls on every page load. So I disabled it on every page except the ones that needed it.
