• Hi. I am using the Duplicate Post plugin alongside Permalink Editor. Both plugins are great, except for the following problem.

When I duplicate a post, the Permalink Alias also gets duplicated. So for example, let’s say I have a post called post-1.html. When I duplicate this, I can change the custom permalink to post-2.html with no problem. But further down the page, I see this:

    Permalink Alias
    https://www.xxx.com/%5B ] –> /post-1.html

and there’s no way to edit the “post-1.html” part. So when I click update, this gets saved. Now when I click on a link for my new post post-2.html, it will redirect to post-1.html. There is a way I can remedy this, but it takes a couple of minutes for each post I duplicate. So I would rather have this problem fixed properly.

In Duplicate Post, there is a place where I can specify which meta fields not to duplicate, but I would need to know the meta field which refers to the Permalink Alias.

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The field that stores the alias value and needs to be excluded is called custom_permalink_alias.

It would probably be useful to have this mentioned in the readme file.

Thanks Steve! I have tried this but the permalink alias is still being duplicated. I guess this is now a question for the Duplicate Post author? Thanks for your response though. Much appreciated.

Sorry, my mistake – it’s actually prefixed with an underscore.

    _custom_permalink_alias

(This prevents it showing in the list of custom meta fields on the edit screen).

Thanks Steve. Unfortunately it’s still being duplicated ??
