[Plugin: PayPal Donations] Defaults not editable once user is sent to PayPal

If defaults are set in the settings for the PayPal donation plugin, they seem to not be editable by the user once they are sent to PayPal. Is this by design? It would be great if it was possible to set defaults, but allow the user to change them on the PayPal screen – particularly for the donation amount.
