Excellent plugin. However I’m having trouble with images. There are 2 upload fields on my registration form, but when I edit the results form on (for example) wp-admin/admin.php?page=participants-database-edit_participant&action=edit&id=1327 it removes the image unless I re-upload it before saving.

Also I’d like a way of actually displaying the images uploaded on the participants listing page – is there a (simple!) way please?

    hi bw3em,

Hmmm, both of those things should be working fine. I don’t understand whats happening on the record edit page…is the image missing when you go to edit the record?

Actually, both of these things lead me to believe there’s a problem with the path to the images that are uploaded. Have you changed the “Image Upload Location” setting? If so, you may want to go back to the default setting (this will almost certainly work) or look at making sure your setting is correct. The default setting is: wp-content/plugins/participants-database/uploads/

Let me know if you’re still having trouble with it.

The images are in the default folder wp-content/plugins/participants-database/uploads

The problem is after editing the record from here* there’s no way to see which participant uploaded them as they’re removed when you return to the records page*! That’s why I’d like them to show (as a thumbnail?) in [pdb_list] and admin*.

    * wp-admin/admin.php?page=participants-database-list_participants

    Does this make sense lol?

OK, bw3em, well, I don’t know what’s happening with the images disappearing. That’s a little mysterious. Lets see: in the admin, looking at the list of records, do you see the name of the file in the column for the image? That all you should see, an image doesn’t appear there. Now, when you use the [pdb_list] shortcode, the image should appear in the list as a thumbnail.

This sounds a bit like there’s some kind if issue with the server, permissions not right, or perhaps the PHP memory limit is too low. I don’t know, I’m just guessing as I don’t have much information, and as I said…it’s all working fine in my tests here.

Ah you’re right – I’ve checked the source code and the image should indeed be showing BUT the URL is wrong. There is no / between the domain link and wp-content/plugins/…..
I’ve tried adding one before /wp-content/plugins/participants-database/uploads/ in ‘Image Upload Location’ to no avail.

I do see the name of the image file in the admin column, but if I edit the record it no longer appears here!

Appreciate you taking the time to help me ??

I’m also struggling with date formats. As mentioned by someone else it defaults to 1970… I’m not entirely sure what format should be used to enter dates (e.g. Month dd, yyyy or dd-mm-yyyy, etc.) but ultimately I want it to output the age – any tips?

    TIA Em

RE the images… I have tried loading [pdb_list] on other PCs and they still don’t show up – link still missing ‘/’ in source code yet still showing in ‘Image Upload Location’ (as above).

Also have tried editing/adding to record with image in admin and reloaded [pdb_list] page, and the image is now missing.
Would it not be better to have thumbnails showing in the admin so participants could add to their images rather than overwrite them or delete them when updating their records? Thanks again, Em

Sorry for all the posts… to re-cap…

The link to images works now and they show up thanks to adding the ‘/’ in ‘Image Upload Location’ (as above) ??

BUT, when a participant or admin edits or adds to a profile without re-uploading the images, the images no longer appear. Or if they upload further images, the originals are replaced.

I need the image to remain in place no matter how many times they edit their profile. They shouldn’t have to re-upload the same image with every edit!

Hope this i makes sense! Em

    Em,

I see there’s a bug that is deleting the photo in records when they’re edited. I’ll have to issue a patch to fix it. Sorry.

You may have noticed I issued an update to the plugin today…this should fix your problems with the images!

    Brilliant, thanks Roland, you’re a star ??

How do I make the text on the participant data list on:
    https://nyqp.org/wordpress/?page_id=733
show thru ? The data is hidden behind ?
on second thought, give me your e-mail and I will send a screen print
    Paul

    Hi Roland,

I am receiving the following errors in pdb:
    1. missing field error message [the %s field is required
    2. Invalid field error message [the %s field appear to be incorrect
    3. Field error style [border 1 px soidred

I don’t know what i need to do to fix these.

    Thanks,

    Donna

    donnacrupi,

These aren’t errors, they are messages that are used when someone is filling out a form and they leave a required field empty or with the wrong value.

    Hi Xnau

I’m Using Participants Database Version 1.4.7 Plugin on my website and it is exactly the right plugin for my service. It is so easy to use and very powerful. My query is belos:

When entering data into the Participants Database Plugin fields incorrectly the Missing or Invalid Field Error Messages which appear on the sign in page appear in a pink/white box, showing the text error message in white.

The page colour of the Online Marketer theme which I am using are blue. How do I change the colour of the Missing or Invalid box error messages, i.e. the pink/white box and the white text to a better contrasting colour so that they can be read more easily by the person filling out the form.

    [email protected],

This is a change that needs to be made in your theme stylesheet to override the plugin CSS. If you don’t know what that means, I’d suggest checking out a tutorial on editing your WordPress CSS stylesheet.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I’ll checkout the WordPress CSS stylesheet as you suggest and try to make the colour change there.
