    Hi there,
I seem to have an issue with this plugin partially working. We have had it installed for a few weeks now. We recently changed servers and moved the site (dailynous.com) which may have had something to do with it I wondered. The Twitter and Facebook logins still work (and have continuously), but the WordPress.com and Google+ logins were working before and after server move, they are now longer working. I am not sure this is related or not, but I tried variations of browsers, users, and even deleted the key and started fresh again the whole process of getting the API from WordPress, to no avail.

The authorization window comes up, and I’m allowed to sign and authorize the account , but nothing happens once this occurs, leaving the user as if they hadn’t tried logging in at all.

    Thanks in advance, Any suggestions?

    John

    Hey John,

I was taking a look at this earlier today on your site and couldn’t make sense of it either. My hunch is it may have something to do with some sort of cacheing layer in place on your new host… or caused by a new plugin? Are you running anything interesting like that?

Yes, as far as caching goes, there is w3 total cache and we are also using cloudflare. I had tried emptying the cache when I reset things ( deleted WordPress.com connection and made a new one), but it didn’t seem to do any good. But we were using those before as well, although cloudflare may not have been picking everything up then. Let me try messing with the cache setting some and get back to you.

    Hey John,

We have another user reporting the same problem in another support stream. He’s going to chime in here to compare configurations with you. Let’s see where the overlap is as I can’t reproduce locally ??

    Hi Jason and John.

Jason, John is working on the problem I brought to your attention. Thanks for your help in looking into it.

So I disabled all caching, and deactivated all plugins except Postmatic and Social Commenting and it seems to have made no difference at all. I don’t believe it is a conflict with another plugin, and I don’t believe it is a caching problem.

    I’ll keep trying…

I just tried swapping out all of the wp core files for new ones I just downloaded,( in case there was something amiss in there), and I also set file permissions to be a little more liberal in case it was that (which I highly doubted), but the WordPress.com and Google+ logins are still not working.

    Hey Guys,

I looked at this a bit over the weekend and here are my conclusions:

    1. I think that the g+ problem might be because they have significantly changed their UI and terminology when creating a key pair. Our documentation needs to be updated. Perhaps it’s more a problem of confusion than anything.
    2. I set up a brand new wp.com app for a test installation and all went according to plan. I can’t reproduce the problem on that one ??

John, in your case could it be that the server move resulted in a slight change to your url? Maybe the addition of a www or something? Have you tried remaking your api keys fresh?

We’re going to work on updating the documentation for Google today or tomorrow. That might help?

    Hi,

Just wondering if the documentation has been updated yet? I’m still having trouble with my Google+ login.

    Hey Jenny,

Yes, we did update the documentation… but not the video (yet).

You can find the documentation here.

    Best,

    Hi,

I followed the instructions there just today but it’s still not working. When I checked the console log to see what admin-ajax.php was returning, it showed “Could not get the user details” in the response. Twitter and Facebook are both working fine though.

    Thanks.

Darn. Thanks for the heads up and an actual error. Interesting. Can you tell me who your webhost is?

I use CloudWays and am on DigitalOcean’s server. Really appreciate the quick responses!

Sure thing. Thanks for giving us more data. This has been a tough one to track down.

My hunch is that it has to do with this ticket… which… we’ve had a little bit of luck figuring out this weekend. Let’s put this on the shelf until the 1.1 release (this week sometime) and see if it gets fixed there. Thanks for your patience….

    Jason
