• I had to restore my files + database today after I absentmindedly clicked “Reset Options” on the OptionTree configuration page. I had just performed a file + database backup, so I should be able to get my options restored, right? Nope. Fat chance. Gone; and there’s hours of spec’d work in there that’s simply history, despite my aggressive backup strategy.

So, now I’m worried on a bigger issue. I can scramble to restore this data, but if I couldn’t restore this information by restoring the database and file structure, how reliable is the migration process to a live server? Where is the optiontree data stored? I click “Save All Changes” but where, exactly, are these changes saved?

So I scrambled, re-entered, completed the draft site, and migrated it to a public server for customer review. However, the same thing just happened: option-tree configuration for my theme is gone. Empty settings.

I need to know how to backup the OptionTree settings also… where can i export one of those “theme-options.txt” ?

    Joe,

It wasn’t the problem with OptionTree, but rather how a theme my client purchased “integrates” the OT functionality.

The good news is that the fix was easy in my case. Go to the User Profile view for the account you use for editing. Below the “Password” section is the OptionTree setting, “Show Settings and Docs” After I enabled that, I was able to see the OptionTree settings menu from the main admin menu, with full access to my settings.

    Hope that helps!

Thx Kyle, I had this problem too and solved it thx to your post

To move the site from a host to a host one does a search and replace of the URLs in the database. But the Theme settings use the XML file to store the settings via the Option Tree plugin.

So with this theme and any site that uses Option Tree – the search and replace needs to be done on the XML file of the Option Tree as well – or the image like a logo that is specified with its path will not show up.

Is it possible to do a search and replace on the XML of the Option Path please?
