I love this plugin, it is sooo powerful and being able to setup areas of the site where clients can add odds and ends (aside from widgets) and to keep them all organized in 1 options area is so beneficial.

The only thing I wish was to be able to have the worspress editor as an extra option or in the existing textarea option.

I’ve looked at other option frameworks and this by far is the best one, the others don’t seem to offer an editor as a choice either.

Anyone else out there as passionate about this upgrade as much as I am?

  • Hello dizmarkie,

Do you know if there was any update on this? I can’t find any docs on the plugin as it says there is a link in WP Admin area… and I don’t seem to find it :S

Would hugely appreciate if you could let me know if I can add textarea or WYSIWYG as an option.

    Many thanks!

Sorry, no luck on my end either. I have tried myself to add it with out much luck as I’m more designer then developer. I wish we could have the editor and it would be the best out of the box theme options template.

I hate having to paste html markup into the textarea and expecting clients to work around it. Having the media tools and access to other plugins via the editor would be sooo beneficial.

Glad to see I’m not the only one praying for this addition (which I’m afraid will never come)

    Hey,

    Thanks for letting me know.

Well… according to the current screenshots, it looks like you can add at least textarea there.

But I can’t seem to find the documentation for it at all ?? On the plugin page it says “Click the OptionTree->Documentation link in the WordPress admin sidebar menu for further setup assistance”.. but there isn’t any link there :S I’m very confused. Have you found the documentation for the plugin?

haven’t found much documentation other then what is show in the plugin itself which seems to have a good amount of info. I’ve also visited their twitter and this page: https://wp.envato.com/open-source-plugins/option-tree/
I did get a reply from the plugin author once a while ago that he would try to add an editor to the textarea but mentioned it could be months before he had time to do so.

This was some time ago and i’m sure its falled off his priority list. I know alot of authors in the Envato network use this plugin for their themes they sell, might be worth going to some of these theme comment pages and seeing if they or anyone else has managed to integrate.

You also might want to look into https://pippinspages.com/wordpress/easy-content-types-for-wordpress/

This allows for sure easy creation of custom meta fields. You can choose which pages, posts, post types these field get applied to. I’ve used it to create an options settings of sorts. Would still prefer to have a WYSIWG on the textarea for option tree for theme options though.

    cheers
