• i have been having issues with the backup because it continues to have an unexpected stop every time I’ve scheduled a backup. I also hadn’t received a confirmation from the vault storage so i created a new login ID. Finally I got a confirmation. So I tried again today and it failed to complete because my website is apparently larger than the free vault storage. maybe i can upgrade but now i’m scared because pages have been erased.

The real problem is that pages of text have been partially erased!
my bio, detailed information about my company. This is a nightmare! now I’m wondering if I re-create them, how do I insure that they are not erased again? How do I safely back up my site?? i really need help. this is going to take me hours to re-write and re-create those pages! help!

    Hi deborah,

The plugin doesn’t have any ability to “partially erase” pages. It has no concept of pages and no concept of content. So this was caused by something else.

How big was the backup? If it’s not too big we can sometimes increase quota free. Just need to email your username to support “at” backup-technology.co.uk

I guess so. Its taken a long time for me to recreate all those pages. The problem was most pages with text. Thankfully not my shopping cart. I’m still working on this and will get back shortly. Thanks for your responses Jason.

Hi deborah we haven’t had another email from you.

Feel free to post the activity event log on here though it should be fine – just delete out any filenames if you want to.

    Hi deborah,

Could you download our trace version from here:
    https://wordpress.backup-technology.com/wponlinebackup-365-tracing.zip

You will need to deactivate and delete the existing plugin you have installed, and then click Plugins -> Add New -> Upload to install this tracing version.

Once installed, set up the settings again and try to run a backup again.

A file will be generated: /wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup/trace.log
If you can download this via FTP, and then delete it, then compress and email it to support “at” backup-technology.co.uk it will help us find the issue.

To compress in Windows just right-click it and “Send to -> Compressed zip file”, on a Mac it would be right-click and “Compress”.

    Thanks,

    Jason

    hello
unfortunately i can’t get it to compress so can’t install it. I can delete the plugin i have but can you install it from your end? Or if I could have a simple zip file, i could install it. but its coming out as a folder.

    Hi Deborah,

I think you typed it wrong or copy and pasted it wrong. Looking at what the page is saying, it says you have “zipYou” at the end of the URL. There shouldn’t be any You there.

yes i figured that out. the you was underlined also. i deleted it but it comes out as a folder and i cant install it because it wont compress.
