I’d like to start by thanking Driskell for a truly great plug-in. I switched from EZPZ Backup due to lots of issues and find this one to be much more reliable.

However, I’ve just noticed that the backups i’m doing on two of my WP sites, are much smaller than usual. On further investigation it seems that only the wp-content folder is getting backed-up. It’s missing wp-admin and wp-includes folders as well as most of the root files. These were always getting included in the back-up until now.

This is happening on two separate sites, on two separate hosts.

    What’s going on????

I’ve not updated WP, nor the plug-in.

I’m hoping Driskell can help out and I can see that I’m not the only one experiencing this problem.

    Hi guys,

What version of MySQL are you both using? I am wondering if there is some bug with it, or the PHP MySQL library. The trace.log cokeyblokey provided looks to point at some strange behaviour of MySQL.

I’ve worked around it in this test – see if it works for you:

Thanks Jason – I’ve installed that tracing version now and will keep an eye on the backup sizes.

On that particular site it’s using:

    MySQL version: 5.0.96-community
    PHP version: 5.3.17

On another site with the same problem:

    MySQL Client API version: 5.1.49
    PHP version: 5.2.17

    MySQL Client API version: 5.1.49
    PHP version: 5.2.17

Above my versions. Thanks for your quick reply.

    Hi xemper,

Please try the tracing version and let me know if it works for you. If not, email the trace.log file as described above.

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Hi all,

This issue should be completely gone in the latest version now. It was fixed in 2.2.7, and now with 2.2.10 it works for non-UTF8 filenames as before, but even better (previously it would skip the file and raise errors.)

Let us know if anything like this pops up again.

    Regards,

    Jason
