Plugin not working with IE

When downloading files in IE, the browser closes with this message, “A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab.” It doesn’t let me open the file at all and pretty much shuts down IE entirely.
The files load with no problem in FF, Chrome and Safari.
Please help.
