Plugin not working in WordPress backend after WordPress v4.3.1 update

I was running WordPress v3 with ePix theme but had to update to WordPress v4.3.1 due to security concerns.
I now do not see the slideshow plugin being displayed in the WordPress backend but only the custom field codes – the Simple Slideshow Manager plugin page is shown for about a second, the page goes blank and then I am left with only this:-
