I finally had the opportunity to test the plugin and unfortunately is not working at all, absolutely nothing is displayed don the right sidebar of gmail, I’ve tried uninstalling and re-doing API keys, token but same issue with blank sidebar.

I would love to donate, pay or whatever we can do to have this plugin working again.

    Please let me know.

We are now in touch over email, which is best going forward. For the benefit of others, I said:

Thanks for getting in touch. It’s really useful to hear your update that it’s still not working.

I’m afraid that the problem is in keeping up with any changes Google might make to Gmail. They don’t support the integration with the Chrome extension at all, so any changes they make could always break the code.

So unfortunately I just don’t think it’s worth us trying to chase this.

My suggestion would be to find a paid customer support product (maybe HelpScout?) that integrates directly with Email. Then if you can find a plugin that sends the EDD data to the customer support product, at least this will be using the software’s official APIs, so hopefully won’t break at random.

I believe that Yoast and EDD themselves both use HelpScout for their customer support and they also maintain a plugin to connect EDD to HelpScout. It also has the advantage of giving you support stats (e.g. time to resolve customer problems) and being scalable if you end up growing your support team.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you do any research in this area.

Dan thank you very much for your reply.

That was one my main purposes, to not have to get a new service to use EDD customer lookup, I’m a one person company and I do not need the fancy help desk services, I love Gmail, and I run my whole company on gmail and your plugin was the perfect addition to my new soon to be EDD store.

I’ve tried the HelpScout add-on with the free trial but I just too not like Help Scout or i cannot get accustomed to their system, it is just an email reply system much inferior than Gmail powerful tools. There is another plugin for EDD on FreshDesk but it is a paid one and I’m not sure I want to deal with that help Desk either.

Could you fix-develop this plugin to make it work correctly? I would gladly pay or donate whatever you are asking for this to work.

    Thanks!
