• Hello,

I just activated the plugin string locator, but unfortunately, it doesn’t appear under Tools. I don’t have any security plugins installed yet, so not sure whats causing the conflict.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Some times, hosts, agencies and so forth will manually disable the built in editors in WordPress, and this plugin uses the same checks.

If you go to the Appearance or Plugins menus, do you have an Edit option there?

Facing the same issue here, and no I don’t have the edit function anymore in either of the the two tabs. Any help would be much appreciated as I really like this plugin, it’s super handy!

It sounds like you may have editing disabled, either with define( ‘DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT’, true ); in your wp-config.php file, or your host may have disabled this functionality altogether, check for that piece in the config file first though, as it’s added now and then by other developers.

Found this in one of your other posts! Thank you ??

i actually just ran into the same problem… fortunately, seeing this support thread right away.

FYI, as security software has pretty much become commonplace, i’d like to suggest that you insert this info into the plugin’s description, within WordPress -> Plugins content.

    just my .02
