HEy @juliearoundtheglobe,
Thanks so much for reaching out to us about this! We’ve noticed this happening as well with Grow Social along with a few other social sharing plugins. As far as we can tell, Grow Social is applying the Pinterest Descriptions as it should but it looks like something has changed with how Pinterest pulls those descriptions on their end.
We’ve reached out to Pinterest for clarification on if something like data-pin-descriptions
are being deprecated but have yet to receive a concrete answer if that’s the case. As of now, it looks like Pinterest is favoring OpenGraph meta tags set in the post.
For example, in the page you sent over above Pinterest is pulling the descriptions from the og:description
meta tag that is being set by Grow Social. Since we don’t have a way in the non-Pro version to update this, it looks like you’re using Rank Math to set these meta tags.
You could go to Grow’s Settings page and under the Misc section toggle on the setting ‘Disable Open Graph Meta Tags’ so that the descriptions are instead pulled from Rank Math.
Hope that helps!
