Just like many of you I found this plugin invaluable – thank you to the developers!

Problem: After building a new site I downloaded, installed and activated this plugin ‘Better Search and Replace’ but… I CANNOT find it anywhere in the Menu structure of WordPress 4.3.1

I have been searching for several days looking through the Menu in WordPress but it cannot be seen anywhere. Although this plugin worked before in an earlier version of WP.

Can you point me in the right direction. Any help would be welcomed and appreciated.

    Hi,

    Thanks for using the plugin!

You should be able to access it via “Tools” -> “Better Search Replace”. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks!

I have the same problem as Jemmey and have tested it on multiple sites (4.3.1).

It’s not in the menu “Tools” and (I suppose the URL is correct) also not if I try to access /wp-admin/tools.php?page=better-search-replace.

Please let me know if I can help you debug it.

    Hi Matt,

Thank you for your response. Yes, I have looked extensively at the WordPress Admin menu structure and your plug-in doesn’t appear anywhere. I can tell you that MY WordPress admin menu doesn’t have a item called “Tools” I have two screen dumps of the WordPress 4.3.1 Admin menu – as you can tell the menu doesn’t have ‘Tools’. Any further advice and help would be appreciated.

    Hi @jemmey and @ scherii,

Can you please try deactivating any other plugins and seeing if that helps?

I’ve tested thoroughly on 4.3.1 and it is there in the Tools menu – if you’re not seeing the tools menu that makes me think it may be a plugin conflict. I also haven’t seen any other reports of these either – it seems to work for the vast majority of users.

If deactivating other plugins doesn’t help, could you please try uninstalling/reinstalling Better Search Replace? I wonder if something went wrong during the install.

    Thanks!

    Hi Matt and Sherii,

I found the problem. As you suggested I deactivate all my plugins one-by-one and found that the plugin “WP Referrer Spam Blocker” was the issue. I deactivated it and the TOOLS menu option appeared!!!

Thanks for the advice. Perhaps @sherii should also follow the deactivation route.

Thanks for an incredibly useful tool!

    Hi Matt,

Thank you for 1.2.7, it solved the problem.

(And yes, I did test it with no other plugins enabled. As of 1.2.6 Better Search Replace did not show up under ?Tools?).

    Have a great day!
