• I have the MailChimp plugin installed on an instance of wordpress multisite at stchas.edu/blogs/main

The plugin is installed and activated. When I go to the MailChimp setup in the backend of WordPress I’m asked to Connect to MailChimp. I click the connect button and a new window pops up asking for my MailChimp login credentials.

I provide those and submit. There’s some processing for a second, the new window closes, and the original tab refreshes like everything is working perfectly.

Unfortunately, when the page has completed refreshing, it’s still displaying the “Connect to MailChimp” message/button, and nothing else.

I have been able to use the plugin to connect to the same MailChimp account on a different website where I’ve been testing things. Everything works fine over there, but it’s not Multisite so I recognize that might be the key difference here.

Any suggestions/comments/ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

  • I’m with a single blog and the same problem occurs… unable to connect.

    Hi there thebadone411 and revixi5,

Thanks for posting this to the support forum. In order for us to look further into the connection issue for you, would you both mind shooting us an email at [email protected] with some additional information? Here’s what we’ll need:

    – your MailChimp username (just username, no password necessary)
    – the browser being used (or a screenshot of this page: supportdetails.com)
    – a complete step-by-step of your workflow, including clicks taken and any relevant screenshots

Once you’ve sent us that, please reply back here to let us know the email been sent. We can then take a closer look at what’s going on and will reply here in this thread.

I look forward to both of your emails so we can investigate further for you. Have a great day!

    Hey all,

Just wanted to post a short update on this. We’re looking into what’s going on with the plugin not connecting correctly and it looks like the issue may be in older WordPress installs. I’ve verified that the issue is occurring in 3.5.1 – if you’re using a different older install, please let us know which.

If you are working with an older install and able to upgrade to 4.0, the plugin should connect just fine using 4.0.

So far we have not been able to replicate this issue using 4.0 installs, so things should be good to go there, but if you’re seeing an issue connecting to MailChimp using 4.0 please let us know.

Thanks for your patience while we continue to look into this!

Hi, yeah, this same thing is happening to me. I’m trying to install on a client’s site that I didn’t build, its on 3.4.2 but I’m not comfortable making any changes or updates to it since its not my site.

    Hi all,

We are still investigating the connection issue being run into by some users of the plugin.

However direct email requests aren’t able to be directly responded to by us, so if you’re experiencing the error please post in this thread and we will continue to update here on the status of the issue.

Thanks for bearing with us while we look into this!

I’m on WP 4.0 and have the exact same problem.

    Hi again,
Is it possible to get an update? I really need to get this up and running today or else I will be forced to use something like Campaign Monitor instead – and I would be sorry to do this as I love Mailchimp.

My problem is the exact same as thebadone:

I’m on WordPress 4.0 and your latest plugin.

I have been able to use the plugin to connect to the same MailChimp account on a different website (latest 3 days ago). Everything works fine over there.

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hi there mariatrier,

We’re still working on this with the plugin’s developers. In the meantime, I’d recommend using the MailChimp embedded form! The code for the embedded form can be found within your MailChimp account and can be placed into your website wherever you need it to be.

Thanks for your patience while we work on resolving the issue you’re running into with the plugin! Let me know if you have any additional questions and have a great day.
