    Hi

This topic has been up and around but never really solved in any of the posts I’ve read through.

I have nextgen running on a wordpress 3.0.1 network site. Everything seems to work perfectly when using the non-flash uploader. Resizing and thumbnails gets made at upload and everything. However, using the non-flash uploader i have to click every single picture and can’t select the content of an entire folder.

When I use the flash uploader it seems to be working with lower res images, but as soon as I try to upload images more than 6 mp it just won’t work. The image doesn’t get added to the list with “remove” link, like normal. I used to get the “directory contains no images”-error, but now it just shows the progressbar frozen at 0% with nothing happening.

  • Not sure what to tell you other than I can get it to work on my site with one tweak (see below). As far as not getting a list of images to upload (with ‘remove’ link) I am pretty sure that that is done via javascript and is sent by the flash loader. Maybe you have a problem with your flash player? Are there any errors showing up in your status bar when you do this?

Here’s my experience with uploading large image files via nextgen.

When I try to upload more than one large >1MB file using the GD library I get lots of problems. I do get a list of images, with ‘remove’ link, to upload on my page but when I click the upload button the progressbar will freeze at seemingly random spots and with different files depending on how many times I try it and how far above the 1MB limit I go. Also, even if it shows that the first couple of files have completely uploaded the resizing and thumbnail creating never completes.

When I try to do the above using ImageMagick then there are no problems and I have yet to come across a limit to the amount of photos I can upload as long as each photo is less than my upload limit set by my webhost.

Hope that helps with your troubleshooting.

I don’t have imagemacgick installed :/ Anyway to get it working without?

The problem must be with the flash uploader. I can upload the same images as zip file with no issues. And non-flash handles it perfectly. I don’t get an error. It just doesn’t add images in list and if I click upload it shows progress bar and stays at 0% forever…

    Have you tried other browsers?

I’m gettintg a little beyond my comfort level here but maybe it’s a security issue.

Also, is this with the NextGen version 1.6.1? I haven’t upgraded yet and am using 1.5.5. Maybe downgrade for a bit and see what happens.

I have tried with Firefox using both mac and pc. Also tried with safari – same result (or no result, that is).

I’m using the latest version of the plugin. I’m not fond about doing a downgrade. Everything is finally installed and running good on my site – except this plugin. Any way to tweak the code to get it running?

Does it work with the WP Core flash uploader ? So we can sort out if it’s a general problem or just a plugin issue…

    Hi

Yes, the core uploader of wordpress is uploading media just fine. Let me know if you want me to explain anything further

OK, will check it… Can you check until which size the flash uploader works for you ? Sounds like a memory issue, but this should normally also affected the non-flash uploader

I have pictures at 569kb and 1140 kb. Those gets on the list with the “remove” link. When I try to upload them, i get .../public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/sa-er-det-ogsa-blevet-hverdag-her contains no pictures. Larger images at around 2000-2500 kb doesn’t get added with “remove” link and upload stays at 0% there.

My memory limits are very high, so it shouldn’t be an issue with that. I can also upload the entire set of images as zip, without memory limit issues ??

    Thanks for taking your time!

Look into Super Admin -> Options, what is the “Max upload file size” ?

I can’t believe I didn’t check this. It was at 1500kb. Raised it to 40000kb and bingo. No problems! Thanks you SO much for helping me out ??

The resize is working perfectly too! ?? Thumbnails doesn’t get created automatically, though :/

Funny things, I had the same issue… not often used Network blogs ??

You know why the thumbnails doesn’t get created on upload? ??

In NextGen, create a gallery then using an FTP client upload the pictures into the gallery’s folder. Then, go back into the gallery in NextGen and tell it to scan/add new pictures in the folder. This is the easiest way to do it for a lot of large images…even easier than the flash uploaded, IMO
