Ah thank you – that solved the problem!

It turns out my directory was not * cmod at 777 !!

Works out this problem with the upgrade to 1.7.2

    * i.e. make the directory write-able.

Now I am not sure if the upgrade somehow changed the permissions, cause I swear they were all set to 777 before, so you may need to reset them, I did and it worked.

Actually after the upgrade to 1.7.2 …

creating a few thumbnails at once works i.e. creating 3 to 10 thumbs at once worked.

and trying to create a bunch did not work (25+ thumbs at once did not work for me)

[[ sometimes it is working and sometimes not so much… creating less thumbnails seems to work better ]]

I upgraded Jquery Library to 1.4.4 from 1.4.2 (1.4.2 is the wordpress default)

It worked after the jquery update. (the thumbnails)

how have you upgraded just Jquery library?

    thanks

For me it was that the new update uses more memory. Had to change my PHP Limit from 32M to 64M. Ya it’s a lot.

    Hi,

Please help me in the same case.
I have the same issue with thumbnails creating. I have tried to increase memory limit, change the attributes to 777.
I can not downgrade to 1.6.2 because it says I already have nextgen installed. It is not an option to lose my galleries and pictures with remove nextgen and install an earlier version.

Is there any way to downgrade to 1.6.2 without any data lose?
Or how can I update my jquery to 1.4.4?

    Much appreciate!
    Regards,
    Agreis

I think there are some problems in 1.72 with this function:
Set fix dimension Ignore the aspect ratio, no portrait thumbnails

    Disable it and check again..

    Regards

    Jorg
