• Hello. I’ve recently upgraded to NextGen 1.43 and am now having formatting problems with the thumbnail grid. Previously, the grid would be 3 colums across by however many rows and they would all be the same size rectangle. Very neat and orderly.

Now, the grid has become quite messy. See here for what I mean: https://www.anothernormal.com/?p=1322

Anyone know how I can resolve this?

    Cheers.

    Rudy

  • Your thumbnails are different sizes so a perfect grid is impossible. I believe this is an easy fix.

Dashboard > Gallery > Options > Thumbnail Settings > I have my settings at 128 x 128, fix dimension box checked and quality at 100%.

After you do that you may need to go into each gallery (through manage gallery), select all images then pick the “create new thumbnails” option from the drop down menu.

    Hope that helps!

thanks slan45. that worked. the thing is, i had them previously at 100px by 75px and all thumbnails were created this size. when I upgraded, I still had 100×75 dialed in but they started coming in at varying sizes. how come? a bug?

I changed the behaviour : In the past it’s always used the sizes which are based on your settings, but it could cause a blurry thumbnail. Now the tumbnail has the real size (don’t strechted) or you resize a of them in the way slan45 mentioned…

    Hello Alex

First of all, thank you for your great gallery plugin!
I am using WordPress 2.9.2, and NextGEN Gallery 1.5.3.

I am working with images of different sizes, but I want the thumbnails to be of one fixed size. However, I can’t manage to force them to the same size (and it’s driving me insane). Another thing that doesn’t work: when i select “edit thumbnail” in the “manage gallery” section, it only shows me a preview of the thumbnail, without possibility of editing.

    Here’s a screenshot.
    And here’s the gallery.

Can you think of any solution to these two problems? I don’t mind the borders of the thumbnails beeing cut.

    Thanks and greetings from Zurich,
    Josef

    Hi Alex,

along the lines of oolong32’s post, would this be possible to add during thumbnail generation:

If an image can’t scale to the set width/height (of say 100×75), it automatically extends the thumb to a width of 100 pixels with the actual image centered on a white background. Or better yet a transparent background, and the file format is PNG.

Alternatively, is it possible to set the thumbnail container to a fixed width and center the image? I suppose that would be a little easier to do.

    Best,
    -Thomas
