[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Thumb Nail Problems

I have tried to set up a gallery but cant get the thumb nails to work – they just show a cut out of the original image. Have tried for a couple of hours but am totally lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly new to WP so please bear with me.
