    Yes, I only found that with a Google search….

    In a nutshell, as well as adding
    [nggallery id=1 template=caption]
    you then need to make changes in gallery-caption.php so that it uses your Alt Text for the caption.

    (Posted this because I saw at least seven or eight unanswered posts looking for a solution to this problem.)
