• I’m trying to add a NextGEN Gallery slideshow to my websites home page – and can’t seem to get it to display. I have the plugin installed and activated. I added a gallery and some photos to it. Then, I go to the home page, click the Add NextGEN gallery, and select the gallery I wish to display. When I preview the page, there’s nothing there.

Now, what’s interesting is that if I select to display the photos as Image List, that shows up just fine. Any ideas on what my hang might be?

    Thanks,
    JT

  • Have the same problem.

Found out. It works when I clicked in “options” on “using flash if available” – then I downloaded the imagerotator to the upload folder.

    That’s it.

Thanks Flar – but can you explain a bit more? Is the imagerotator a different plugin? Also, are you clicking Gallery > Options > then what? I don’t see a “using flash if available” button to click.

    Thanks again,
    JT

At first you have to go to Options, then choose the last folder, it’s called “Slider” or “Slider show”. It’s at the very beginning. “Using flash is available”. After clicking I got a message that I have to install the Imagerotator, a link to the download is nearby.

So I downloaded it, unpack the zip, and uploaded the whole folder into the mentioned folder on my server. Then I clicked on Find Search, but it didn’t worked right now. But when I uploaded only the imagerotator.swf into that folder and clicked search, it worked.

    Hope, I could help you.

    Thanks Flar – here’s what I did:

Gallery > Options > Slideshow > Enable flash slideshow >

After saving I received the message about the JW Image Rotator. I downloaded it, unzipped it and put the swf file in the appropriate folder. Then I searched for the ‘Path to the Imagerotator (URL).’ It found the path and I clicked save.

I went back into my home page (which is where I want the slideshow to be) and added inserted the [slideshow id=1] via the toolbar button. But when I view the page…I still get nothing.

Once again, if I I deleted the [slideshow id=1] and add the image list code [nggallery id=1]instead, that works just fine. I don’t understand why the slide show won’t load. This is very frustrating.

    Any advice?

    JT

Hmm, if the gallery works and shows the pictures, the slideshow should either.

When you clicked the button to add the slideshow or gallery, did you choose the gallery in the popup? It’s a drop-down menu above the three options you can click.

Last time I didn’t recognize it and wondered why the slideshow doesn’t appear, but the picture gallery did – without these adjustments.

Yep – I selected the add slideshow option in the drop down menu. Still nothing.

    Can anyone offer any insight?

I was having the same issue. In addition to adding the swf file into the uploads folder, I also added the swfobject as well. It worked after that! Hope that helps.

Since nobody has commented here in several months, I guess it was resolved, but for me adding the swf into uploads didn’t do it, but I found in another post the shortcode:
[nggallery id=#yourgalleryidnumberhere# slideshow] which I used in place of the wordpress generated one I got when I used the ‘insert NG gallery slideshow’ [slideshow id=####] #### is the id…you get the idea.
After this, it worked. But a painful 12 hours of searching for a solution that should have been made clear and easy by the plugin maker
