• I was attempting to read through the forum but seems like I can’t find the answer. if you look at my pagePat Tucker You will see that the nextgen slideshow widget isn’t loading the images. All it shows is the rotating circle.

Does anyone know what might be causing this problem? I don’t have any other plug ins added yet so I don’t think it’s a conflict. I’ve used this on other pages but never had this problem before.

    HELP!

  • Scoop – you need the image rotator script to resolve the spinning wheel. Not sure why you turned it off? Can’t imagine it works without it.

It works as a slideshow – not a Flash Slide show.
No spin..only get the spin with the rotator script.

BTW the upload is awful on NextGen – is it just me – keeps stopping after a few images – and i have to start all over again.

Not sure about the slideshow vs Flash slideshow. I’m happy with the regular slideshow.

Upload issue – How big are your images? That’s often the issue. I try to keep them less than 900px on the longest side.

Images 601 x 450 all under 150kb – they are from an old PhotoStack Gallery and there are a lot in each image.

My fix wasn’t elegant would still rather be able to offer the option to see the images as a slideshow or as thumbnails – but can’t get the album to link to a subpage with each gallery in it.

First sentence should have been a lot of images in each gallery – 100-200.

Okay – here’s my scoop on this poop: WP V3.1.2, NextGen v1.7.4, JJ Nextgen JQuery Slider 1.3.2 AND Custom Contact Forms Version 4.5.2.3 | By Taylor Lovett – With this combo activated I get the spinning “Loading” graphic when having both a NextGen gallery and a JJ Slider on one page.

When I deactivate Custom Contact Forms – bingo! I get both gallery types playing on one page! Now that doesn’t make me happy since I spent hours customized Custom Contact Forms first.

Chooseamc, re following Chewbaka’s post to install JW Rotator, here are the instructions:
Transfer the player.swf, jwplayer.js and swfobject.js file from the ZIP to your website. We recommend putting these files in a folder named “jwplayer” in the root of your site. Make sure that you’ve also uploaded all the necessary videos, songs and/or images to your site.

Problem is that in the download only the swfobject.js is present. Downloaded twice to be certain. Suggestions?

All I want is for 10 photos 240 x 211 to transition one to the next in a continuous loop at about 10 second intervals. Thanks!

@yesdavy – I would go ahead and upload that file into your wp-content/uploads folder. Then go to your Gallery admin panel, choose Options and then Slideshow. Look for “Settings for the JW Image Rotator” and under that is a place to choose the path to the file. Once it’s located, save and hopefully that will make it work. The file mine needed to find was called “imagerotator.swf” so not sure where yours is! Been a while since I’ve done this though. Best of luck!

Chooseamc, you did it!! Thanks so much. The images are there now but on each image transition a JW Rotator logo shows up over the image. Any ideas on how to remove that? Also, the word slideshow appears at the top outside the images but I don’t want any title or anything there so do you know how to remove it? Thanks again!

Trying to amend the post above, Chooseamc, but edit takes me out of here to all forums home page. Further to the slideshow issues, is it possible to put a NextGen slideshow in a text widget? If you look on https://www.markdex.com you can see that the slideshow alignment is too far left, it should align center like the charts, but I cannot find where to change its alignment. I would like to put a border around the images but cannot find where to do that. Thank You!!

@yesdavy – First off, I don’t think you can easily remove the JW logo. Perhaps there’s a way if you’re willing to go into the gallery code, but it would probably be overwritten on the next upgrade.

I see what you’re saying about the alignment. I’m guessing you want to put the gallery shortcode in a text widget? If so, there is a necessary step here: https://www.wprecipes.com/how-to-add-shortcodes-in-sidebar-widgets. If you’ve already done that, not sure why it’s staying on the far left. Maybe try adding your own DIV alignment tags?

Lastly, if you just want images that rotate, perhaps the gallery is overkill. I use a plugin called Drop In Image Slideshow Gallery. Super easy to set up and use.

    Hope that helps!

@chooseamc, I followed your link and that shortcode filter widget deal was working but out of the blue it is now a black square with the loading icon. Have no idea what happened. You can see it at https://www.markdex.com BTW, I tried the Drop In but could not figure out how to make less abrupt transitions so went back to the NextGEN. Any suggestions on fixing the black square loading icon?
    Thank You!

@yesdavy – Couldn’t tell you why the pics aren’t loading. My suggestion is to delete and reload the pics into the gallery. See if that helps. It does seem that NextGEN is thinking it is displaying them as it rotates every few seconds, but the pics just aren’t there.

@yesdavy – Another widget you might like better is the Smart Slideshow Widget. Better transitions and control. Easy to use – just make sure you add BOTH the image folder location AND the image folder path to the widget.

@chooseamc – I have installed the Smart Slideshow Widget on your reccommendation but cannot find the shortcode for it to put it into a text widget. It would be nice if there were a shortcode directory. Maybe there is one but I cannot find it.
    Thanks for the good suggestions!
