[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Slideshow hard cropping

I’ve searched (somewhat) and haven’t seen anything on why the NextGen Slideshow doesn’t not hard crop vertical pics (or pics in general) to fit the specified size of the slideshow.
I found WPS3Slider, but I’m having problems with that, too (I can’t get the text bar to not show up).I’d LOVE to use NextGen, but I really need it to hard crop.
