• Hi, do you speak German? No matter, I try it in English.

The Slidshow widget displays the pictures always in a wrong way. I set the Option to “Stretch image: false” But the wdget seems to use “Stretch image:true”. It doesn’t matter if I try another Option, the Slideshow widget always use “Stretch image:true”.

Please, can you help me to fix my display problem. It looks so horrible if the Images are not displayed with its real resolution (proportion).

I thoght an update will fix that problem, but I am wayting for 3-4 updates now, and I have still that resolution problem.

  • Same for me – upgraded to 2.6, applied nextgen patch but still no slide show. I at least my test site and haven’t yet tried the (unsatisfactory) fix I used before

    Hi NOgbourne,
if your relating to https://www.bonzerplus.org.au the slideshow there is up and running now.
    cache issues?

    best regards
    bee

    Hi Bee

No, not bonzerplus this time – my test version (not public) but a fair point. I have left bonzerplus at .97 NextGen 2.5 WordPress for the moment. Just tried clearing temoprary files and cookies with no improvement. Tried it on three broowsers. Just to be sure I tried it on a machine/browser that I hadn’t used before and again no improvement. The gallery content is still there OK.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

    regards
    Nick

It doesn’t look like the original issue has been resolved here and i have the same problem. Here is my website: https://www.handmadebyamy.com

Some of the images in the widget slideshow seem to get resized disproportionately (some of my images are already square so those look okay as they’re not being resized). I have played with many settings and can’t seem to get my widget slideshow looking right. Did anyone figure out the fix to this?

Also, an unrelated problem (well, more of a preference I guess!)… I want to use the imagebrowser on certain pages, however I do not like that the page refreshes each time you click next. Is there a way to get the page to “anchor” in place and only refresh the image? That would be much more user friendly.

    Thank you!

Okay, so I feel the need to reply to myself here. ?? I’ve been playing with ngg and found the flash plugins by Airtight Interactive that work with it. The simpleviewer (https://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/) does exactly what I was hoping for! Hopefully it enlightens someone else too.

    winksmile –
Thanks for that tip. I’ve actually given up on ngg, and I am using the simpleviewer in a separate directory within wordpress mu. Blog members can’t use it, but it’s a sitewide photo gallery that I maintain anyway, so it works for me.

Dear NextGen developer, it’s a great plugin, but it still has some ways to go.. It just doesn’t work the way that you’d expect it to work. I don’t know if they are bugs or the user interface is counter- intuitive, but it is really frustrating to use.

I dont understand: I set the Stretch image option to “none”. And I get two results:

Images are resized to fit: in this slideshow

Images are not resized: in this other slideshow

    Any ideas, please?.

    Thanks in advance

i believe the stretch/fit non-functioning to occur when the image FILES are too big for the flash piece to handle in memory. i found resizing the files (resolution and file size) to fix the problems and now it all works for me.
    hope that helps someone.

I can confirm what bitkahuna is saying about image size. NGG does NOT automatically resize images on upload. You have to do this manually:

After you upload them, click the checkbox next to new images on their gallery page, then pick the “Resize Images” bulk editing option, and click ok.

NGG will now resize the images down to the size you specified in Gallery >> Options >> Images

Stretching of images in the player should work now.

Also, here is a clear description of the stretching options:

True: Makes images fill the player area by “overstretching” them, IE, making their smallest dimension fit the player size (maintains aspect ratio).

False: Makes images fit inside the player area. IE, their largest dimension is the same size as the player (maintains aspect ratio).

Fit: Stretches images to fit the inside of the player (DOES NOT maintain aspect ratio).

None: Does not resize image at all. Appears to center the image in the player and crops whatever is too big (maintains aspect ratio)

Thanks lesfreeman. I just put a new WordPress/NextGen install and thumbnails were fitted to fill the square thumbnail.

You may need to add a step after resizing images: resize thumbnails (Or maybe this is all I needed to do to get full image thumbnails).
