I know I am not alone – the NextGen gallery sidebar slideshow plugin distorts pictures that are not of the exact aspect ratio as the window. Changing the stretch settings do nothing. (ie, all the landscapes look nice, but the portraits come out fat…)

    How do we fix this?!?

I have searched the support sites for 2 days now and have found lots of posts of people with this problem, but no real solutions.

    Any help?

I have noticed that on the nextgen demo pages, they only show landscape photos in their examples… Could this mean there is no solution and portraitures be damned?

Have you tried Gallery >>> Options >>> Slideshow >>> Stretch Image = false ?

The options above is the way to fix your problem, but if some images were cached prior to changing those settings, then you will only see a difference with newly added images. For some reason, I do not think this is a browser cache because even clearing my browser cache does not help. There is a way to clear the cache for single images, but I do not think this effects the slideshow.

So, in the future, try to change your slideshow stretch settings to false prior to viewing them using the widget. Hopefully this will help.
