[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Number of images per page – edit from template?

My specific issue: I want to show galleries with only 5 thumbnails “per page” in posts but all the gallery without pagination in a gallery page. The only walkaround was to leave the galImages input blank from the plugin options and use custom field ngg_gal_Images in the posts. But I would actually rather prefer the other way around, for it is more accessible for other authors that will use my site (which have less programming knowledge than me). Besides, I feel I already have half of the solution, and it’s quite frustrating not to reach it completly.
