    Hello,

I am running a wordpress 3.0.3 install with the multisite function setup.

My theme is a Studiopress theme running on the Genesis Framework with a Child theme.

    – I have the following plugins from WPMU DEV

    – New Blog Template
    – Easy Blogging
    – Easy Blogging Tooltips
    – Dynamic Content Gallery
    – All-in-one SEO
    – TOS (terms of service plugin for multi-site)
    NextGen Gallery 1.7.2

My problem is that the Gallery itself seems to work just fine, the only aspect that is broken is the Add NextGen Gallery button within the post/page toolbar.

When I click to “Add NextGen Gallery” into a post/page the popup window displays correctly with all options but NONE of the drop downs to select galleries or photos will work. (even though there is galleries and photos uploaded)

When you click on the drop downs the cursor briefly shows the loading wheel and then nothing. I can type in the box, but none of the galleries or pictures will show up for selection.

I have wracked my brain on this most of the day… Removed plugins piece by piece and tried pretty much everything I could find.

I should add that prior to setting up the multi-site function etc it was working 100%

Is there anybody who can help me with this situation?????

    Carl

If you would like to help to debug this just call this link and check if you get any error message (you must be logged in your blog) :

    Hello Alex,

Thank you for your reply. I tried doing what you ask and it just takes me to my blogs homepage?

    No error message given.

The Gallery appears to work in all functions except for the ADD NEXTGEN GALLERY button in the post/page editor. I click the button and the popup displays correctly, however the drop downs to select pictures, albums or galleries will not populate and the loading wheel spins briefly then nothing.

I saw in server settings my php is only 4.4.9 but when I try to force to use PHP 5 through htaccess

    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
    AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php

It breaks the entire layout, and only TEXT is visible…

    Hi Carl,

I have the exact same problem… my browser is currently firefox and i was just thinking that adobe gave out an update yesterday…

Anyways, i tried using Opera and it worked… is this solution working for you??

    Hi Zenking,

Thank you for the reply. I have tried IE 8 and Firefox and the error still occurs. I just tried Opera and the problem is still very much there.

This is really frustrating because my wordpress MU installation is pretty much useless without a working gallery for my users.

It was working on my main site fine a few days ago.

    OK

I have done a little more research, still not solved but here is some interesting info.

I have over 20+ wordpress websites and the Gallery is working fine on ANY of my blogs running wordpress 3.0.3/2.9.2 and NextGen gallery version 1.4.3 and 1.6.2.

The drop downs are working fine on these installations…

To test further, I even created a brand new blog using WP 3.0.3 and NextGen gallery 1.7.2 and the problem is BACK. So it seems to be a problem with 1.7.2?????

So it’s something from the upgrade to version 1.4.3 – 1.7.2 that is causing this issue…

How can I roll back a NextGen install until this is fixed????

    Carl

The drop down list have changed in 1.7.x, as it’s now a search field.
First off all you really should consider to switch to PHP5.
Did I understand correct that you run a multisite setup ?

P.S. Here are all versions for download :

The drop down list have changed in 1.7.2, as it’s now a search field.

    Please explain…?

I am talking about the drop downs within the popup menu when adding an image to post or page from NextGen gallery “Add Nextgen Gallery” button in toolbar.

It will not load the options into the drop downs so I can select what to insert. (gallery, album or individual photo).

Yes ONE of my setups is a Multisite

    https://www.bchuntingblog.com

The other one affected (brand new created site) is NOT multisite. It is a base installation of 3.0.3 with 1.7.2 NextGen and it’s also got the same problem.

ALL of my sites running WP 3.0.3 and NextGen 1.6.2 are working fine. It seems the upgrade to 1.7.2 breaks something.

I tried to manually switch my blog to PHP 5 through .htaccess and it messed up the entire site, I had to revert back.

    Think I solved the issue…

It was as simple as adding this line of code below to my .htaccess

    AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

This forces the server to use php5 and seemed to do the trick.

On a sidenote the “Insert” shortcodes do not work on the full screen editor. This bug has been around for a while.

    Carl

i am so new to all of this. can you please tell me very detailed instructions on switching to php5. i am having the same issues with no drop down gallery choices on next gen button.
    thank you
    debra

    ps…i am using nextgen v.1.8.3
    with theme “weaver”
