    Hello All-

I’m searching for some solid setup instructions for this setup. I have 3 sites, one of which has a little Nextgen gallery with no problems: https://trianglehomesuccess.com/buy-a-home/ (If you find it not working, it’s because I’m fiddling with settings.)

A second site is not displaying gallery thumbnails correctly (long vertical column instead of rows & columns): https://trianglenewhome.com/homes-for-sale-or-leasepurchase/

The first site is correctly delivering images from the W3TC self-hosted CDN. The second is not.

Here are some specific questions I have about setup:

    1. Super Admin/Nextgen Gallery/Gallery path? I have this: wp-content/blogs.dir/%BLOG_ID%/files/. Should I replace %BLOG_ID% with the actual ID? Should it look like this:

    wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/

    or this:

    wp-content/blogs.dir/%1%/files/

    or this:

    wp-content/blogs.dir/%BLOG_ID1%/files/

    or something else?

In the site 1 menu under Gallery/Options/General Options/ Gallery path I have: wp-content/gallery/ Is this correct?

In the site 2 menu under Gallery/Options/General Options/ Gallery path I just have: / and it cannot be edited.

Any help turning this dysfunctional family into a happy family will be greatly appreciated!

  • Ok, so I actually just had this problem and I fixed, but depending how far you are along there maybe a lot of different steps.

First off you file path needs to look like this:
    wp-content/gallery/%BLOG_ID%/

Where I left /gallery/ so that all the images will go into one folder from NextGen. The /%BLOG_ID%/ doesn’t need to be changed because as you add new blogs the id is filled in. You can add anything after the blog id, but there really isn’t that much need to.

You’ll know it worked correctly if when you go to your sub-sites the default Gallery Path looks like: wp-content/gallery/6/.

If it doesn’t you may need to reset your defaults in the Reset/Uninstall. However, before you do that you want to backup and make sure that you have the network default path setup correctly.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you,
    Anthony

    @adarco-

Thanks for the good information and suggestions! The reset did the trick.

The only remaining issue is that on the sub-site, W3TC is still not delivering Nextgen gallery images from the self-hosted CDN.

I just received your new message (it hasn’t appeared here yet though). I clicking on the links that your provided, and everything seems to be working correctly on both sites. However, I may not be completely understanding exactly how you want the images to display.

    RESOLVED!

    Here’s what I did:

    1. Reset Nextgen (Gallery>Reset/Uninstall). This reset the gallery path for the secondary site to wp-content/blogs.dir/site ID/files/ (replace “site ID” with the actual site ID Number).

    2. Network deactivated Nextgen (this may not have been necessary).

    3. Activated Nextgen individually on the 2 sites that use it (this may not have been necessary).

    4. W3TC CDN Settings: Added the following to custom file list: wp-content/blogs.dir/site ID/files/* (replace “site ID” with the actual site ID Number. In my case is was wp-content/blogs.dir/7/files/*)

    5. Create a NEW Gallery in Nextgen (Just taking the steps above will not make W3TC upload previous gallery images).

    6. W3TC CDN: Upload custom files. You should see the files from the new gallery being uploaded).

    7. Insert new gallery into page or post.

    8. Voila!

    9. Delete previous gallery- if you wish.
