[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] NextGen Gallery – Display a list of the galleries in an Album, in the side
-
I’m a big fan and user of the NexGen plugin & I’m just trying to find a way to streamline my workflow a bit.
Up till now, I had been creating my galleries then adding them to WordPress Pages/sub Pages & then displaying the page links in the side bar using wp_list_pages.
I then realised that NextGen could do the first part of this for me by putting my galleries into albums. NextGen is now displaying the galleries within the album page itself, without the need to create Pages for them. I have created a gallery.php template in my theme folder to display the gallery description when viewed, which is all I need displayed for the gallery (plus the images of course), so I don’t need the facility to add too much info into an actual Page
I’m now trying to figure out how I could create my list of galleries in the sidebar? I just want to create an unordered list of the current gallery titles in a specified album?
The only way I can currently think of, which is really convoluted & probably bad news, is:
- add the album to a post
- create a modified album view template to show only the gallery titles
- specify that template in the shortcode in the post
- use a query in the sidebar to display that specific post
Seems a bit much! Anyone think of a simpler way. It looks like using albums is a good way to help organise your galleries, but I need more flexibility to navigate to them.
Hope someone can help!
Cheers
