• Hello.

    NextGEN Gallery is a GREAT plugin, if someone thinks about publishing pictures on his/her own wordpress blog, NextGEN Gallery is THE only way to go.

    That’s probably why I was trying to solve a issue (and the only one I had with this plugin) rather than change to another plugin, I couldn’t find any image gallery plugin better than this one, and I think I won’t ever.

    I’ve installed recently spanish translation for next gen gallery, funny thing is that it only translated the admin panel but NOT the blog itself. For instance [Show as slideshow] was still there and not its spanish counterpart “Mostar como diapositiva”.

    I tried switching themes to default and classic, tried deactivating and activating the plugin, also tried renaming from nggallery-es_ES.mo to simply es_ES.mo, but without success. The best I could get was just to have the admin panel translated.

    I am not that seasoned about wordpress, but I recently got into translating a wordpress theme and succesfully achieved it, so I somehow understand how the translation system works, I also opened the .po file included in the translation package to see whether some text was still without translation but that wasn’t the case as the translation is very complete and all texts were already translated.

    Was there anything thing I was missing?…

    As strange as it may appears, i found a kind of solution, The NextGEN Gallery texts were at last translated after I did reset the NextGEN Gallery to default configuration. So I experimented with turning the language back to english by editing the wp-config.php file, and guess what… as before, the admin panel was immediately translated but not the texts
    that appears on the actual blog (i.e show as slideshow, view with piclens, show picture list, etc.), so I reseted once again the NextGEN Gallery and finally the english texts appeared.

    =============

    So, I guess that this behavior might prevent from using language switching plugins such qTranslate.
    Have anyone had this issue? I couldn’t find any similar post on the forums, Please excuse if there is already one.

    Could it be a web server, or wordpress version, or php version related issue? By the way I’m using
    Apache 2.2.11
    php 5.2.8
    MySQL 5.1.30
    Wordpress 2.7
    NextGEN Gallery 1.1.0

    Any ideas for a workaround, any help is appreciated, …

    Regards.
