[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Link a single image to its Gallery in a popup

I’m using Advanced Custom Fields in conjunction with NGG. Everything is working well except for one thing, I can’t figure out how to link a “preview” image to the gallery it’s from in a popup.
Here’s the latest link I’ve tried:
<a rel="lightbox[set_<?php the_field(gallery_1); ?>]" href="<?php the_field(gallery_start_image_1); ?>">It pops up alright, but only shows the start image, not the gallery it belongs to.
