[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Installing GD library

HI….
I upgraded to the latest version of Next-gen and i am prompted to install GD library.
this is the message i get.You do not have the GD Library installed. This class requires the GD library to function properly. visit https://us2.php.net/manual/en/ref.image.php for more information
Can you please give direction on how to do this.
