• Just upgraded to wp3.0.3, nextgen gallery causes the visual editor to fail, deactivated nextgen and it now works perfectly, had me scratching my head for a while.

  • Check on the plugins area if nextgen gallery plugin does need some update for the database.
I’m using right now the last ngg 1.6.2 with 3.0.3 and works fine.

Not here, I am using the same as you.

Try to clear browser cache… there is really no conflict with 3.0.3

Tried that but no good, amazingly there was an upgrade to 1.7 available when I logged in, applied it and everything is back to normal.

I am getting this with 3.03, and latest update to NextGen “Please update the database of NextGEN Gallery. Click here to proceed.”
I cleared browser cache. Deactivated Ng and reactivated…. Still cannot get past this message.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Steve

what’s happening with steve is happening to me as well. using 3.03 and just updated to nextgen 1.7. i also cleared the browser’s cache twice. on both firefox and chrome. the admin page of nextgen is also blank. all that’s there are the wp’s menus.

I solved this issue by editing the database version in my wp_options table ( ngg_db_version ) to 1.7.0
The page and alert is gone, everything seems fine i guess…
It may not be the correct method but it could be a temporarily work-around…

it’s really only a tempory fix and the problem come back with the next release. We need to search for the reason, why the upgrade failed

Upgrading to PHP5 did the trick, for me.

Well, I got past the database upgrade message by upgrading to PHP5 as Dan Bollinger suggests, but I still don’t have any images showing.

I did this also as below, stopped the message and everything still seems to be functioning ok.
Also I am not on php 5, and won’t be for a few weeks at least.

this might help. i found it in my logs

    [12-Dec-2010 03:21:19] PHP Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /noel/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/upgrade.php on line 383

Should be fixed in version 1.7.2

and i confirm. it works now. wp 3.03 and nextgen 1.7.2.

Me too, 3.03, NG 1.7.2, all good

    Thanks
    Alex
