[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] ImageBrowser Not Working, But Effects Works

  • After upgrading to WordPress 2.8.6 and NextGEN Gallery 1.4.3, the ImageBrowser has not been working properly. NextGEN Gallery shows all of the thumbnails in each photo gallery in the album – [album id=”1″ template=”extend”], as it should. However, when clicking on a thumbnail to view the enlarged photo, an Error 404 – Not Found message is displayed.

    However, in the WordPress Dashboard, if I go to Gallery | Options | Gallery and uncheck Show ImageBrowser (The gallery will open the ImageBrowser instead the effect), the enlarged photos are displayed properly using the Shutter Effect.

    When viewing each image gallery by itself – [nggallery id=20], clicking on each thumbnail causes the larger image to be loaded using the ImageBrowser (and the Effects), as it should.

    In other words, the links to the larger images are correct when viewing each image gallery by itself, but the links are incorrect when viewing an entire album.

    For example, the correct link to the larger image for one of my photos – https://www.dalestown.com/family/nggallery/post/christian-and-kim-august-12-2009/image/452 – is displayed when viewing each image gallery by itself. However, the wrong link to the larger image for this same photo – https://www.dalestown.com/family/nggallery/page-7/album-1/gallery-20/image/452 – is displayed when viewing the entire album. (Please note that this site is private, so you will not be able to access it.)

    In my attempts to solve this problem, I have done the following:

    1. I reset the NextGEN Gallery to default settings (Gallery | Setup | Reset Settings).
    2. The Cache Folder was cleared {Gallery | Options | Images | Clear cache folder | Proceed now >>).
    3. The Permalink settings were updated

    Why does the Effects work but the ImageBrowser does not function properly? Also, why does the ImageBrowser work when a single image gallery is displayed but does not work when viewing several image galleries in an album? Why are the links to the larger image different?

    Before upgrading WordPress and NextGEN Gallery, the ImageBrowser worked properly.

    it’s the option:
    Deactivate gallery page link:
    in the gallery options. uncheck that one, and then set your galleries to link to the page where you want this gallery to show.
    For that to work you’ll need to create a page first with the gallery on it (using the [nggallery id=x] tags), then you link the gallery in manage galleries to that page.
    Now, if you have an album somewhere, the album will redirect to the page you linked to.
