I would like to choose the order of the photos for each slideshow I create in the gallery. Even though I use the sort gallery option, the slideshow starts with whatever photo it wants no matter what position I place them in. How can I fix this? Thank you.

Did you check in the configuration setup (“options/slideshow” menu), that “shuffle mode” isn’t selected?

Yes, thank you, I have done that, unchecked “shuffle mode”. However, it persists in loading them by “Image Id” even though I have it set on unsorted, and tried all the other settings. Thoughts? Thank you.

I guess you are using the non-flash slideshow, right?

I have looked at the gallery on my site and at the author’s site and I don’t know whether it is flash or not. Where would I find this information? Thank you.

I found information about “Myflash” on the author’s website. He indicates he has included this in “The NextGEN Gallery”. This a quote copied from his site:

    myflash
“Please ensure that you use to the latest public release version 1.11 , otherwise delete the plugin, older version contain a major security bug.
The development is closed and due to the fact that I integrated this feature in my own gallery plugin NextGEN Gallery, I drop the download for this plugin. To avoid further problems I discontinued the hosting and support at my side.”

    Thank you.

Just check in the configuration setup (“options/slideshow” menu) if “Enable flash slideshow” is selected. I believe that your problem only happens when using the javascript slideshow (the non-flash version).

“Integrate the flash based sildeshow for all flash supported devices” has been enabled the whole time.

I really appreciate the time and consideration you are giving me. Any other thoughts? I’m truly stumped.

    Thank you.

Do you have the JW Image rotator installed as required?

I have this same issue and am not using the flash slideshow, only the non-flash. Is there no way to custom sort the non-flash slideshow?

    nathan12343

    (@nathan12343)

me too. I’m not using the flash version. The thumbnail view is in the custom order but the slideshow still starts with the original slide.

Here is a copy of my settings as they stand at this juncture. Images are rotating, so I presumed the JW Image rotator is in place, but perhaps not.

Settings for the JW Image Rotator

The settings are only used in the JW Image Rotator Version 3.17 . See more information for the Flash Player on the web page JW Image Rotator from Jeroen Wijering.

The path to imagerotator.swf is not defined, the slideshow will not work.
If you would like to use the JW Image Rotatator, please download the player here and upload it to your Upload folder (Default is wp-content/uploads).

Enable flash slideshow: Integrate the flash based sildeshow for all flash supported devices
    Path to the Imagerotator (URL):
Press the button to search automatic for the imagerotator, if you uploaded it to wp-content/uploads or a subfolder
    Shuffle mode:
    Show next image on click:
    Show navigation bar:
    Show loading icon:
Use watermark logo: You can change the logo at the watermark settings
    Stretch image:
    Transition / Fade effect:

    Thank you.

The boxes did not show up in the previous post, so here are the items that are currently checked or have specific functions:

Enable flash slideshow: etc. is checked.
Show next image on click: is checked.
    Stretch image: thru
    Transition/Fade effect: random

    Thank you.

It sounds to me that you have not uploaded the jwplayer. There is a fallback slideshow in case flash isn’t available and that is probably what you are seeing. If that is right then you need to go here:

    https://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-image-rotator/

download the player, unzip it and upload the folder to your wp-contents folder (you don’t need all the files, but it makes it simpler!). Once you have done that go back to your Slideshow settings and click “Search now”. The URL box should then be populated. Finally save all changes.

You’ll know if jw player is working because its logo appears in the top left corner of the slideshow on every new slide.

    Hope this helps.

The player is already uploaded to the wp-content/gallery/plug-ins/image-rotator/

When I click on the search box it gives me wp-content/gallery

There is no logo showing on the slides. Am not sure what it should look like exactly.

Also noted when in the wp-content files the rotator shows for my header images. Does this make a difference and if so where should I upload the rotator to?

    Thank you.

Sorry the url box does not stay populated it flashes away from there and gives me the wp-content/gallery but returns to the url box which still shows empty.

    Thank you.
