I’m afraid I can’t help you either. I’ve got a quite similar problem. When I wanted to access the admin panel nothing worked, I just got an error message.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/userdomain/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/manage-images.php on line 224

I had to deactivate NextGEN Gallery manually. I hope someone can solve this problem. I don’t want to be forced to change my gallery plugin.

I too got the same message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /home/lostinas/pulbic_html/wp-settings.php on line 307

above that message it says “A failure occurred”, but below that it also says “6 pictures successfully added”

so very conflicting. However, when I go to the post and try to use NextGen gallery, and click the button, the little window pops up but it is empty – I can no longer select any gallery, the window just stays white.

What is going on??? I just updated to latest version of WordPress – could there be a conflict? I also just added a new plugin called LinkWithin – could there possibly be a conflict with that plugin???

By reading our thread, all these problems started for us hours ago so it appears to be something very recent. Does anyone know if we deleter plugin and then re-add it and activate it, will it cause havoc for all our older posts, or will it reactivate seemlessly?

Hey Alex – thanks for the link and the help! It helped a bit, but not entirely. I have been receiving the “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /home/lostinas/pulbic_html/wp-settings.php on line 307” message, so as you suggested I re-sized the images to make them smaller and then it uploaded the gallery, ie worked fine. HOWEVER, when I returned to edit the post, I press the NEXTGEN button, the white popup window comes up, but it is empty – there is no drop down menu to allow me to select the gallery. It just stays white, forever.

Moreover, I tried to create a second NextGen gallery today and now nothing is happening. I create and name a new gallery (works fine), I try to upload a zip file, and it begins to upload then just stops and creates nothing. The page is blank, with just a note on the top asking for donation. Completely blank. What’s going on?

Is it possible these problems are due to incapatability issues between the version of NextGen and the version of WordPress? I just updated and all of a sudden I’m having the above issues whereas before I had no issues with the wonderful NEXTGEN. I’m running WordPress 2.9.2 and NextGen Version 1.4.3

I’m really desperate, as I am so reliant on this excellent plugin for my site, but now nothing is working. Should I install your new
NextGEN Gallery Version 1.5.0 beta? Would that solve the issue? PLEASE HELP!!!

Let me just clarify by saying even with small image files, NEXTGEN is not working at all. I’m having 2 problems: 1.) It will not allow me to upload any new galleries in the “Add new gallery” page – it used to give me a Fatal Error message, and now it gives me no message at all. It just starts to upload the zip file, then goes kaput. Nothing happens, the page goes blank (with the normal link options [users, tools, settings, etc] still available on the lefthand side of the browser).

    2. even if it did load a new gallery, when I go to edit the post, and I press the NextGen button, the popup window with the dropdown menu comes up, but then stays white. No dropdown menu appears, so even if the new gallery were created I would have no way of selecting it and putting it in my post. [fyi, i even tried to manually type in [nggallery id=323] onto the post in HTML to test it, but when i preview the post it says “[Gallery not found]”]

    Please help!

Also, if i uninstall NEXTGEN and then reinstall it, what happens with all my old posts with galleries? Will I have to re-edit them 1 by 1, or will they all automatically load up as galleries when NEXTGEN is re-activated?

This problem could happened if you have a low memory_limit in your php environment or you have a very large image (resolution, not size). The memory limit sets the maximum amount of memory in bytes that a script is allowed to allocate. You can either lower the resolution of your images or increase the PHP Memory limit (via ini_set, php.ini or htaccess). If you didn’t know how to do that, please contact your web hoster

I’ve looked for answers to this problem for quite a while now…

my pictures are TINY! (less than 400 KB)
for the time being I only have 25 of them in one gallery
my memory limit is 32 MB

I only have a few plugins installed

how could this create a problem?

I cannot change the memory limit, should I just stop using NextGen?

Any input would be appreciated, thanks
