[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Database won't upgrade

Try just deactivating Next Gen.

Did that and the nag went away, but then the Next Gen galleries don’t display in the blog, only the text, ie [nggallery=12] appears where the gallery was meant to be.

What means, you get the same error message ?

This is still displayed when I try to upgrade the database:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home4/twelvewi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/upgrade.php on line 383

even after I have modified the code as directed by the link.
