[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Customizing gallery links in albums

I have a number of galleries with lined pages. These linked pages use both custom NGG gallery templates and custom WP theme templates. My problem is that when I launch a gallery directly from an album, it opens the gallery:

https://site.com/album_page/?album=1&gallery=6

but I want it to directly open the gallery’s linked page.

https://site.com/album_page/gallery6

The reason is because I want to apply a different WordPress page template for galleries versus albums; and currently, a gallery adopts the same WP page template as its parent album page.

I have already made one change to NGGFunctions.php that specifies a custom gallery template when launching a gallery from an album – a big help. Is there a simple way to change nggfunctions.php so that albums will generate links to a gallery’s linked page instead of the gallery itself?

It’s a little tough to explain – hope I’m making sense.
