[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Creating Sprites to reduce server load?
-
hi,
First of all, thank you for this extremely powerful and goodlooking plugin.
I’ve been using the plugin on several websites, but as more visitors are coming in to my huge gallery pages, the server seems to have a hard time keeping up.
I create huge, high quality galleries, sometimes it holds up to 100+ pictures in 1920×1200 resolutions.
The problem is that when 10.000 people visit that gallery, it loads 100 thumbnail pictures (thumbnails are 800x600ish at my websites!) x 10.000. Do the math, it’s pretty damn much!
I have a drupal website as well with a similar gallery plugin, but that plugin allows me to create sprites. It reduced the server load to the extreme, as it only has to load 1 picture instead of all 100. When someone clicks a certain image, the image gets loaded.
It would be mega-awesome to have that in this plugin as well. I would be happy to donate some when this is added.
