For the past few days, it seems that I can not insert a table. When I am in the post editor, and click the insert gallery button, and then click the scroll down menu to choose a gallery, the scroll menu shows a loading circle forever. It does not load. I can still get my galleries working by typing the gallery code, but this is pretty inconvenient for my new writers. Help would be great!

  • if your wordpress installation is in a seperate folder, try this fix :

    https://code.google.com/p/nextgen-gallery/source/detail?r=938

Ok back to square one – after one successful installation (where I spoke to soon and said I was an idiot) – got 2 more on different domains (same host) that don;t work: both have:

    – clean installs of WP – latest ver 3.1.2
    – latest ver of NGG 1.7.4
    – Standard WP theme (2010)
    – PHP 5.2.17

Plugin health check failed – even though the only plugin I added was NGG.

Man, have spent some time with this plugin – it’s just so flakey. Looks like I’m back to ver 1.4 ?? only thing that works consistently.

I’ll try deleting the hosting a/c’s (reinstalling WP and the plugin seems to never work once you get the “plugin failed red x check of death – reminds me of windows blue screen back in teh day) and give it one more shot. Maybe not upgrading the PHP mem limit from 64 – 128 prior may help? dunno grasping at straws.

Nope – deleted the hosting a/c. Fresh install of everything. Plugin health check failed. Once that happens on a domain, I can NEVER get it to work again and have to revert to ver 1.4.

Yet on another domain I setup recently, it worked (same server, same everything) – our PHP was updated recently – so I just went into that site that was working, ran the plugin health check, and it passed – all green ticks.

Once you get this “plugin health check fail GREMLIM” on your wordpress installation, it seems as though there’s no going back – I can’;t for the life of me solve it and I’ve tried SOOOO many combos with no success.

Maybe it’s the exact sequence of how you set it up? i.e. maybe one has to install another plugin, add a gallery, then upgrade the PHP memory limit, or something like that – maybe it can’t be a full moon? But man oh man, I’m at a loss with this one.

I shudder to think what I’m gonna do with the dozen or so sites I got running this on the old version of 1.4 – I’m relunctant at this stage to take on any more clients who need photo galleries when *seemingly” the only decent gallery out there NGG, can be so problematic.

Comes with website building I suppose doesn;t it? The boys at DIYThemes advised me to avoid using plugins whereever possible and now I’m starting to learn what they mean.

Had a last roll of the dice and I finally got one install working – but ONLY if I followed this:

    – fresh install of WP (latest ver using default theme)
    – uploaded the original ver 1.4.3 NGG plugin, and didn;t update it straight away (added no other plugins at this point)
    – wordpress > settings > permalinks > custom URL structure > /%postname%/
    – updated NGG
    – all Green ticks

Bizarre but anyway it works (for me anyway) – if I can recreate it, on another install, then I got a blueprint ??

Now to install the Theme :0

Why does this string say this issue is “resolved” when clear it’s not??? I have all green checks, try to insert a gallery into a post and the issue with the non stop hour glass continues. I let it run all night and it was still going strong.

No one has been able to figure this out for such a popular plugin?

Also, this header needs to be updated. This is NOT RESOLVED.

    Thank you

This is still not resolved, indeed. Running on the latest versions of both WordPress and NextGEN, and it’s still not working. Same problem as everybody else.

Having the same problem. So very much would like to have my photos uploaded. Did anyone ever resolve it? Thanks much!

    Hi Alex,
Thanks for your perfect and useful plugin.
However I’m stuck with the same problem: when I try to insert galleries using nextgen.DESC button, the plugin loads only a part of them, I cannot see all my galleries. The same strange thing happens with image insert: I see less than the tenth part of them.
We have WordPress 3.2.1 running in its own directory )not in the root) and the newest version of NGG (1.8.3). According to your suggestion I’ve checked, if there is used home_url() instead site_url(). Yes, there is. The plugin health check passed well.
I wonder what’s going wrong. Any other suggestions? Thanks for any help.

I have this problem, too and still no solution ??

No solution here, I get the endless spinning ball when trying to use the insert gallery widget. I do not have a WP install in my main domain, but in a lower folder, if it makes a difference.

Interestingly, I can use my galleries with the Smooth Gallery widget, hard coding it in. I cannot hard code from the actual Gallery plugin.

I am also flunking the theme/plugin test, although my theme passes the third check. I have deactivated all the other plugins and it still doesn’t work.

    Definitely not resolved.

Same here. Spinning icon where gallery should be.

I am using a local install on XAMPP though, so I’m not expecting too much.

I can create thumbnails in the page no problem though. Odd.

I got a conflict on my footer for the theme, but my site is a heavily edited CMS-based WP install for a proper website, so I wasn’t expecting too much!

Great gallery, just doesn’t work for me. Off to browse some other solutions.

yep same problem for me. if you can get this working id be happy to throw $100 your way, alex, and im sure we could get some more support from others on here as well.

Has anyone found an alternative that works? While the smooth gallery is still working for me, I really need a bit more flexibility. And I have over 100 galleries, so I imagine making this transition is going to be a PITA.

    I had the same issue.

I just followed Alex’s instructions (https://code.google.com/p/nextgen-gallery/source/detail?r=938#) and it worked perfectly!

    Thanks Alex!

    Hello theR3AP3R,

is this really the correct link? It just leads to three changed files in r938 where “site” is replaced with “home”.

I checked these files in my installation and there is already a home_url() in there.

What do you mean with “instructions”?

    Greetings
    gerobe
